132
Jack Ference , City Treasurer-Collector Harriet Drivon , Chief Building Official
Charles Gyselbrecht , Police Chief John R . McDonald , Jr . , Fire Chief John Keller,
Construction Engineer William T . Martin , and Stenographer Evelyn Styler .
Mayor Bury noted that Accounts 4o0 to 461 had been reviewed by the Council at the
previous meeting , and continuation of discussion of departmental budgets would
begin with Account 46l ( Account 430-City Controller - HELD and to be reviewed
by Council after study of Data Processing Status Report submitted )
Account 462 - Purchasing Administration :
Account approved as submitted .
Account 463 - Central Services :
Account approved as submitted .
Account 464 Municipal Building Services :
Account approved as submitted .
Account 465 - Equipment Services :
Councilman Henderson questioned the heavy Equipment Mechanic position in this
Budget which was replacing the Fire Mechanic position formerly budgeted in the
Fire Department , noting that the Fire Chief was not in agreement with this
action . The
Equipment Mechanic would also maintain other City heavy equipment when not
servicing emergency equipment .
Councilman Henderson asked if job specifications had been drawn up for Equip-
ment Mechanic , and if there is a resource information to justify it being in
Range 47 . City Controller advised that the salary range and title were determined
by the Personnel Analyst . There are no written specifications as yet because
the job has not been approved . It will also have to be considered by the
Personnel Board .
City Manager stated this person would have to be more qualified that an
Automotive Equipment Mechanic . In response to questions by Mayor Bury, City
Manager stated the person presently in the Fire Mechanic position has elected
not to stay in that position and would like to return to Fire Fighter position .
After further discussion , Councilman Petersen moved to support Staff and approve
