147 <br /> Grant Ross , 465 Trident Drive , questioned <br /> reason for residents in Redwood Shores <br /> having to pay more for meter reading than in <br /> rest of Redwood City . <br /> Deputy Director of Public Works explained that the difference in charges is <br /> not for reading meters , but funding created by Ordinance for partial redemption <br /> of outstanding bonds for water service improvements in that area , Considerable <br /> discussion continued , including the effect on ad valorem tax of profit or loss <br /> on various water systems . City Controller advised that after profit and loss <br /> statements are prepared , it is possible there will be reduction in the ad valorem <br /> tax , <br /> Account 645 - Water System Facility Improvements : <br /> Mayor Bury raised question of potential improvement in capacity to provide water <br /> to Port area, and inquired if any consideration was given to this possibility , <br /> stating there have been inquiries and criticism relative to capability to fight <br /> fires , Deputy Director of Public Works advised this was not included in budget , <br /> and suggested he could make report to City Manager for further discussion of <br /> the matter . <br /> Councilman Henderson noted the amount budgeted for Emerald Lake water system <br /> improvements was similar to last year ' s budget . Deputy Director of Public <br /> Works stated that it is being used , and if Board of Supervisors accepts County <br /> Engineer ' s recommendations there will be an assessment district up there and <br /> County will have assessments for water system improvements , When that happens , <br /> this budget item will be dropped . It will be a lump sum complete system <br /> improvement . In answer to question, he confirmed these were expenditures of <br /> funds raised specifically from within that area . It was noted this matter <br /> will be considered by Board of Supervisors on May 18th at 3 : 15 P .M. <br /> Account 645 approved as submitted . <br /> Account 650 - Sanitary Sewers : <br /> In answer to question , City Controller stated that Holiday Overtime shown on <br /> Page 150 should be shown as Overtime . Account 650 approved , with correction <br /> noted , <br /> Account 651 - Sewage Treatment Plant : <br /> Approved as submitted , <br /> Mayor Bury noted a commitment of Council to maintain Zimmerman Field , Staff <br /> advised it was reseeded on April 29th . <br />
