149
Bury advised that sales tax revenues benefit the City as a whole and could
also benefit Redwood Shores in recreation , capital improvements , and many
other ways . In response to question regarding new bond issue , City Controller
stated it would be probably about a year before there would be another bond
sale . Mr . Denton Mazzuco , 420 Keel Lane , asked what criteria would be used
in considering when to have bond sale . He was advised the district would not
be able to issue more bonds until the fair market value is sufficient to
justify them . Mr . Clayton Shank , 5140 Compass Drive , questioned Staff concerning
lead time necessary after it was determined that there would be a bond sale ,
He was advised about 60 -90 days would be needed . Mr . Ross asked if the $ 96, 000
(General Engineering ) could be eliminated from this year ' s budget . He was
advised the budgeted item was necessary for preparation of plans and specifications ,
and other engineering costs which are a continuing item . Mr . George Hayes ,
506 Trident Drive , did not think there would be enough homes built this year
to bring up the market value , and felt the money budgeted for a bond sale could
be eliminated . City Controller pointed out this item is not related solely to
bond sales , but also to seismic study problems , soils study problems , reviews ,
and other matters that are related .
After further discussion of these and other matters of interest to citizens
of Redwood Shores , the General Improvement District funds were approved as
submitted ,
Mayor Bury ordered a short recess at 10 : 15 P . M .
Accounts which had been held pending further study were considered next .
Account 430 - City Controller :
Data Processing Report . City Controller reviewed report which had been
furnished to Council , detailing plans for future data processing programs ,
and stating he was pleased with progress that had been made , In response to
question by Councilman Henderson , City Controller stated he expected a slowing
of the rate of increase in his departmental budget . Account 430 was approved
as submitted .
Service Club Dues for Department Heads :
Councilman Henderson moved that funds for dues to service clubs be deleted
from budgets wherever they had been requested , seconded by Councilman Williams ,
and carried .
Account 482 - Community Promotion :
In view of the fact there has not been sufficient time to obtain the information
needed from PCA , Account 482 was approved as submitted . Mayor Bury noted that
there would be a board meeting in the near future and PCA would be asked for the
information .
