Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6527 APPROVING REVISED SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE PURCHASE OF GASOLINE FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY 1 , 1971 , THROUGH JUNE 30 , 1972 ; AUTHORIZING CALL FOR BIDS THEREFOR ; AND , RESCINDING RESOLUTION NO , 6515 , seconded by Councilman Williams . Staff report indicated original specifications limited the bidding to premium-type ethyl gasoline only , in an amount of approximately 250 , 000 gallons . Bid opening date was first set for June 1 , 1971 , and later amended by addendum to June 8 , 1971 . It was now proposed to set the bid opening for June 28 , 1971 . Specifications had been modified to call for prices on 125 , 000 gallons of premium-type ethyl gasoline and 125 , 000 gallons of low-lead gasoline . City Manager pro tem commented on further investigation of State experience with low-lead fuel , and it was felt that the high- performance vehicles in Police and Fire Departments , comprising about one - half of the City ' s vehicles , would require premium gasoline , and the remaining vehicles will be adjusted to utilize the low-lead .
