Sunrise Lions Club , requesting permission to close off Broadway at both <br /> ends of Douglas for Go -Kart race on Sunday , September 12 , 1971 , and <br /> requesting $ 500 allocated for bicycle race which has been discontinued <br /> be used for publicizing Redwood City and the Go-Kart race . <br /> Referred to Staff for report back to Council . <br /> Councilman Williams moved to accept communications and recommendations , seconded <br /> by Councilman Henderson and carried . (MINUTE ORDER #71 -139) <br /> ADDENDUM : <br /> A . Councilman Williams moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6575 DETERMINING AND <br /> DECLARING THAT THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSITY DEMAND THE IMMEDIATE <br /> EXPENDITURE OF PUBLIC MONEYS FOR PURPOSES OF EFFECTING EMERGENCY REPAIRS <br /> TO CERTAIN SANITARY SEWAGE PUMPING FACILITIES WITHOUT PUBLIC BID THEREFOR , <br /> seconded by Councilman Rhodes . Resolution provides for emergency repairs to <br /> sanitary sewage Pumping Station No . 10 without going to bid , pursuant to <br /> Section 68 of the City Charter . The Resolution provides for maximum <br /> expenditure of $ 6 , 00o . A minimum of five ( 5 ) votes in favor thereof is <br /> required . <br /> Councilman Henderson inquired if the $ 6 , 000 would be authorized out of <br /> GID funds since Pumping Station No . 10 is in Redwood Shores . City <br /> Controller advised it was not a Bond Fund expenditure but a maintenance <br /> item to be paid out of Sewer Service fees , In response to further questions <br /> by Council , City Manager pro tem advised that if the failure was caused <br /> by the design , DMJM would be responsible and had agreed to accept responsi - <br /> bility . He further explained that this portion of the sewer system is <br /> in a project City has not accepted as yet . When Pumping Station No . 10 <br /> failed , City responded with normal maintenance procedures to get it back <br /> into service . In order to get to the repairs as soon as possible with <br /> permanent equipment, this emergency funding was being requested and would <br /> be from normal maintenance funds . It would be subject to reimbursement . <br />
