On the subject of income to the City from CATV, as reported to Council by City
Manager , Councilman Weymouth inquired how this amount compared with the
projection . City Manager stated that the estimate in the current budget of
the amount expected to be received from Peninsula Cable Television Company
was $4 , 000 , The amount actually received was $ 5 , 425 . 36 and is expected to
increase as CATV expands its service .
Mayor Bury suggested the matter of possible income from a commercial television
channel , such as Channel 12 has apparently become , should be explored , as this
matter was not discussed in the early stages when there was no commercial
station .
Councilman Henderson agreed that further discussion was needed . She expressed
disappointment in the report submitted by CATV, as the ordinance states that
for the purpose of fixing the annual franchise fee and for compiling information
for periodic rate reviews , City should be provided with an annual report . She
expected to receive more information in the report .
Mayor Bury requested Council members to discuss the matter with City Manager
so that he could schedule a discussion with these views in mind . (Memo 2 -3 -71 )
It was pointed out by the City Manager that the check was accepted subject to
audit by the City and this matter is being discussed with City Auditor .
Mayor Bury noted for the record that February 15th is a holiday and there will be
no Council meeting that evening .
Councilman Williams called attention to proposed legislation which reportedly would
curtail the amount of gas tax funds a city with no general plan would receive .
He suggested the matter be looked into to see what the ramifications are , since
Redwood City has no general plan . Mayor Bury stated that since all the facts
are not known , he would request that they be determined and a Staff report
made . (Memo 2-3 -71 )
Councilman Weymouth moved to adjourn , seconded by Councilman Keckley , and carried .
Meeting adjourned at 9 : 00 P . M .
Frances I . Reggetts , Acting City Clerk
