51 City Manager concluded the monthly report with comments on the demonstrations recently held in the City . Police Chief had been asked to give an indication of the funds expended , and his information was that over the period January 15 to February 9 , costs to the City in overtime and personnel expenses amounted to $4 , 445 . While there was damage to a Police vehicle , this was covered by insurance , although this reflects on the experience rate . Mr . Grant Ross , 465 Trident Drive , requested information concerning Steinberger Subdivision, noting that Marlin was just about completed and ready for development , and that in the plan , Steinberger was to be the next area , Mr . Reiter responded , advising that site preparation work and filling was already accomplished . Additional improvement would depend upon rate of home building, and they were still forecasting a year or year and a half before the next bond sale . To accommodate persons present in the interest of the matter , Mayor Bury ordered Item 3 on the agenda to be considered next . Request of San Mateo County Scavenger Company for consideration of a rate increase for garbage and refuse collection , Mr , Paul F . Kelly , 181 Second Avenue , San Mateo , representing the Scavenger Company , requested that , since Staff is desirous of additional in- formation , the matter be continued . After a brief discussion, Councilman Keckley moved that the matter be deferred until April 12 , 1971 , seconded by Councilman Petersen and carried , (MINUTE ORDER #71-38 ) AMPEX CORPORATION EXPANSION PROPOSAL , City Manager reviewed the background , that approximately a year ago Ampex indicated plans for world corporate headquarters construction within the loop of Douglas Avenue . Staff researched , then prepared a presentation and published notices in the newspapers of information clinic . Corporate planning and additional staff work was necessary in connection with a very complex agreement for the work , and for the abandonment , and to properly protect the interests of both Ampex and City . Both City and Ampex were now prepared to present the matter to Council for further action . Mayor Bury indicated concern had been expressed by members of Council relative to the actions to be taken , as to whether resolution of intention would prejudice position of Council .
