Manuel Sotomayor, Riviera Circle, Redwood City, expressed concern <br /> regarding the proposed progression of rates which would make the <br /> marginal use of a few units over the minimum, very expensive. Also, <br /> Mr. Sotomayor suggested the City combine with other entities to <br /> explore increasing the water supply, including: desalinization and <br /> the use of processed effluence. <br /> Councilwoman La Berge, member of the Board of SBSA, described the <br /> recent conference she attended on wastewater management and advised <br /> that reclaimed water would be an important part of water management in <br /> the future. Councilwoman La Berge described Redwood City's use of <br /> reclaimed water for irrigation during the recent drought. <br /> Councilman Greenalch suggested that the Council and staff might want <br /> to reconsider the "Lifeline" five unit maximum, since the first three <br /> speakers had all expressed the need to raise that limit. <br /> MEMO 9/14/93 <br /> f. Steve Rusconi, Upland Road, Redwood City, described the most recent <br /> water break downs on his block and advised that the entire line must <br /> be replaced. <br /> g. Herb Link, Fulton Street, stated he was opposed to the new water <br /> increases and advised that higher rates would drive residents out of <br /> Redwood City, and the vacancy factor would hurt the City <br /> economically. <br /> Director Ingram read a letter sent to the Council from the Tri-County <br /> Apartment Association commending the City for lIits excellent approach to <br /> achieving the City's water revenue objectives with a fair and equitable <br /> rate structure.1I Director Ingram advised Council he would respond, by <br /> letter to the residents who asked for exceptions for medical reasons. <br /> MEMO 9/14/93 <br /> 4.
