219 <br />Minutes of Regular Meeting <br />Redwood City Council <br />June 1, 1970 7:30 P.M, <br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Arnett. <br />Invocation led by Monsignor Joseph D. Munier, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, <br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Dixon Arnett, Mary W. <br />Henderson, William C. Rhodes, Ray A. Weymouth, Mayor Robert H. Bury and <br />City Clerk Marian McCrindle, Vice -Mayor Paul C. Keckley and Councilman <br />Herbert G. Petersen were noted absent. Also noted present were City <br />Manager Howard C. Ullrich, City Attorney David E. Schricker, Assistant <br />City Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief John R. McDonald, Jr., Fire <br />Chief John Keller, Director of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, Park <br />Superintendent Pasco Balzarini, City Treasurer Harriet Drivon, Auditor - <br />Accountant Jack Ference, Chief Building Official Charles Gyselbrecht, <br />Superintendent of Buildings, Equipment and Transportation Melvin I. Moen, <br />Personnel Director Alfred Wiers, and Secretary Frances Ozzanto, <br />Councilman Arnett moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of May 25, 19703 <br />seconded by Councilman Rhodes, with the stipulation that unanimous approval <br />by Council was omitted and should be inserted as action on the motion of <br />Councilman Petersen that Council not take a position relative to the <br />National policy on Southeast Asia. Motion carried. <br />Councilman Arnett moved to adopt RESOLUTION N0, 6305 COMMENDING CAPTAIN EARL <br />CONRAD, FIREMAN JAMES SERRA AND FIREMAN FRANK DeNATALE OF THE REDWOOD CITY <br />FIRE DEPARTMENT, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried unanimously <br />on roll call vote. <br />Mayor Bury made the presentations, describing the coincidence, while visiting <br />a friend at the hospital, of learning that the patient in the same room <br />owed his life to the efforts of the Police and Fire Departments, and his <br />conversations with the patient's wife. He presented the Resolution to <br />Captain Earl Conrad, and Firemen James Serra and Frank DeNatale, commending <br />the men for their heroic action. <br />Presentation was made by Mayor Bury of a Certificate to Irene Levi, Assistant <br />Purchaser, for having successfully passed examination for Associate Public <br />Purchasing Officer, commending her for the effort to become more proficient <br />in service to the City. <br />Redwood City Junior Soccer Team (Juventus Sports Club) was introduced individually <br />by their Manager and Coach, George Sundquist, Mayor Bury noted this team <br />
