227 <br />Councilman Arnett moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO, 6308 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR <br />THE FURNISHING OF ONE WATER METER TEST BENCH, MODEL FORD NO. 4s, <br />seconded by Councilman Weymouth, who questioned whether an estimate <br />of the price was available. Director of Public Works advised estimated <br />price from manufacturer was $2,500. Motion carried on roll call vote, <br />Councilman Keckley and Petersen being noted absent. <br />DAMAGE CLAIM, A-Abco Rents, 2200 Bay Road, R=dwood City, damage to auto <br />allegedly caused by hot tar thrown in the process of street repair <br />work, denied and referred to insurance carrier on motion of Councilman <br />Weymouth, seconded by Councilman Rhodes and carried. (MINUTE ORDER <br />#70-101) <br />ACCOUNTS PAYABLE Nos. 78510 to 78575, inclusive, totaling $163,068.79 <br />approved for payment on motion of Councilman Rhodes, seconded by <br />Councilman Arnett and carried. <br />COMMUNICATIONS: <br />R, D, Martin, 1947 Alameda de las Pulgas, <br />(addressed to office of City Attorney, with <br />copies indicated for each Council member), <br />protesting proposed project SD -29 to line <br />and fence Redwood Creek, <br />Mayor Bury reported receipt of congratulatory letter from California <br />State Automobile Association concerning Redwood City's winning <br />Pedestrian Safety Citation award in the 1970 AAA Pedestrian Safety <br />Program, <br />Mayor Bury noted submittal by Allan Semeit of his biographical sketch <br />relative to interest in appointment to Library Board. Copy is to be <br />given to Council for future consideration. <br />Councilman Weymouth nominated Judge Allison Rouse for consideration <br />of appointment to the Library Board of Trustees. Mrs. Merry and <br />Judge Lyle Edson were also named as prospective Board Members, <br />Mayor Bury commented on the Veterans Memorial Commission and indicated <br />decision should be made as to whether to retain in present form or not. <br />He advised he would attend the June 4 meeting and discuss the matter <br />with present Commissioners. Councilman Henderson noted that the <br />recommendation requested from that Commission some time ago has not <br />been received. <br />
