79 <br />newspaper had printed two articles on the matter, both of which were misleading, <br />and City Manager referred to his report, copy of which was submitted to Council, <br />which clarifies the matter, adding that under the Ordinance and existing agree- <br />ment with the County Scavenger Company, it was specified what the charges were <br />to be, where the container is to be kept and where contents to bepickedup, and <br />until Council elects to amend the Ordinance, Staff has no alternative but to <br />enforce the conditions as they exist. He added that a number of residents are <br />phoning, as well as other cities, and it is apparently a developing problem, He <br />stated that a report will be submitted to Council. (Memo 1/13/70) <br />Police Youth Club of Redwood City, extending invitation <br />to Council to attend annual dinner meeting January 17, <br />1970, 6:30 P.M., at the Golden Steer Restaurant. <br />(Reservations to be by Council members through Mildred <br />Franco of the Police Department.) <br />Robert B. St. Clair, Chairman of San Mateo County Board of <br />Supervisors, advised of meeting Board has set for February <br />3, 1970, for discussion on updating electrical code for <br />unincorporated area of San Mateo County, relative to pro- <br />posed nonmetallic sheathed cable vs, metallic conduit now <br />required, and requesting comments from City for inclusion <br />in their deliberations, <br />Council briefly discussed the matter and it was the opinion this should be set <br />as an agenda item, with recommendations of Staff submitted sufficiently in <br />advance to permit study, no later than two weeks (January 26, 1970), Mayor Bury <br />indicated the request be directed to the Chief Building Official for recommendations <br />to City Manager. (Memo 1/13/70) <br />Redwood City -San Carlos -Belmont Board of Realtors, <br />providing list of appointees to their Civic Relations <br />Committee. <br />Report of the Ordinance Review Committee concerning <br />Admissions Tax A.B.C.-Marine World, recommending implementation <br />of such tax continue to be held in abeyance, and subject <br />to review at end of the 1970 season, <br />Councilman Henderson moved to accept the report and recommendations of the <br />Ordinance Review Committee concerning Admissions Tax for ABC -Marine World, <br />seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried. (MINUTE ORDER # 70-14) <br />Letter delivered to City Clerk during meeting from Jurgen <br />Wolff, 1234 Johnson Street, Redwood City, advocating public <br />discussion concerning establishment of Civilian Review <br />Board on Police Department matters, <br />J. 0. Patterson, 55 Agua Vista Court, Redwood City, request- <br />ing Council include on a regular Agenda of Council a public <br />discussion of recent police incident. <br />Personal appearance: <br />William G. Phoenix, 3060 Broadway, addressed Council <br />relative to concern over police procedures in the <br />Sequoia High School burglary incident, and expressing <br />dissatisfaction with apparent lack of official response, <br />Mayor Bury gave assurance that he had personally responded in writing to each <br />letter personally, and expressed willingness to meet with them to discuss the <br />matter, and that there has been official response to all who had directed correspondence <br />to Council. <br />
