<br />Redwood City Council
<br />July 6, 1970 7:30 P.M.
<br />Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Petersen.
<br />Invocation led by Reverend Larry Irons, Sequoia United Presbyterian,
<br />ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present: Councilmen Dixon Arnett, Mary W.
<br />Henderson, Paul C. Keckley, Herbert G. Petersen, William C. Rhodes, Ray W.
<br />Weymouth, Mayor Robert H. Bury, and City Clerk Marian McCrindle. Also noted
<br />present were City Manager Howard C. Ullrich, Deputy City Attorney Clark Maloney,
<br />Assistant City Manager Henry V. Burget, Police Chief John R. McDonald, Jr.,
<br />Fire Chief John Keller, Director of Public Works J. Louis Scherer, Planning
<br />Director Ken Schroeter, City Auditor -Accountant Jack Ference, Chief Building
<br />Official Charles Gyselbrecht, City Treasurer Harriet Drivon, Personnel
<br />Director Alfred Wiers, Park Superintendent Pasco Balzarini and Secretary
<br />Frances Reggetts,
<br />Councilman Keckley moved to approve, as mailed, Minutes of Adjourned Regular Meeting
<br />of June 29, 1970, seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried.
<br />Presentation by Police Youth Club of trophies received in competition during the
<br />year, Police Chief introduced three young representatives of the Guardsmen
<br />Drum and Bugle Corps of the Police Youth Club: Nancy McDonald, Patti McDonald,
<br />and Jeff Weiss, and reviewed the excellent reviewed-the-exeellent record in
<br />competitions in which the group had earned a number of trophies, as well as
<br />cash prizes, A second reason for the appearance was to publicize the field
<br />competition on July 19, 1970, at the Sequoia High School Football Field, in
<br />-- which 500 young people will participate. Mayor Bury purchased the first
<br />ticket, with appropriate expressions of commendation and pride in the Club.
<br />Presentation of Certificates of Distinguished Service was made by Mayor Bury to
<br />Judge Lyle Edson, retiring member of the Library Board of Trustees, and to
<br />Bruce Wyckoff, retiring member of the Planning Commission.
<br />Loyalty Oath was administered by the City Clerk to newly appointed members of the
<br />Library Board of Trustees, Mrs. Ardeen Merry, Judge Allison Rouse, and
<br />Lawrence G. Brian, and of the Planning Commission, Martin Mohr, James S. Williams
<br />and Fred Soderer, following which Certificates of Appointment were presented
<br />by Mayor Bury,
<br />PUBLIC HEARING, Oak Knoll -Canyon Lane and Vicinity Improvement District was
<br />declared open and affidavits of posting and mailing of notices ordered filed.
<br />At request of Council, Director of Public Works described the project as
<br />consisting of construction of sanitary sewers, for a total cost of $47,241.68.
<br />There being no oral or written protests, public hearing was closed on
<br />motion of Councilman Keckley, seconded by Councilman Henderson and carried.
