1�n <br />are being made to eliminate the problem, and that it will be included as a portion <br />of the project under consideration, The basic problem appears to be inadequate <br />catch basins, <br />Ron Klein, 1245 Carson St., advised he resided in the flood <br />problem area, and wondered if additional catch basins would <br />be included in the project, <br />Director of Public Works indicated these would probably be added as determined <br />necessary, <br />Dan Lopez, 1239 Alameda, stated there is a catch basin in <br />front of his property; however, water overflows to extent it <br />reaches his door, Despite cleanup by his neighbor and him- <br />self, rain water remains and does not run off, <br />Charles Seals, 2522 Goodwin Avenue, stated his neighbors <br />favor the idea of spot improvement as opposed to general <br />improvement, <br />Director of Public Works began the discussion on the Kensington Branch, advising <br />of information clinic on March 12, and requesting Mr. Batsford to report findings <br />as presented at that clinic, <br />Mr. Batsford stated the preliminary remarks for this Branch <br />were substantially the same as for the previous discussion, <br />that similar studies and surveys were made covering the chan- <br />nel from Redwood Creek to Fernside Street, The general im- <br />provement alignment was presented to those residents, Upper <br />reaches of Kensington Branch are similar except the amount of <br />water flow and size of channel are slightly less. He described <br />the various recommendations for improvements such as rein- <br />forced concrete pipe Fernside to Alameda, full improvements <br />Alameda to Maddux, inadequate culvert Maddux to Redwood Creek, <br />resulting in flooding each time it rains, He suggested two <br />alternate routes for the Maddux to Redwood Creek, either of _ <br />which could be studied, given authorization, <br />Council requested recommendations on upper section from Fernside, where City is <br />more or less committed to leaving in present state, Mr. Batsford responded that <br />the same alternatives are open as on the Stulsaft Branch, <br />Councilman Rosselli moved to authorize construction as recommended for full improve- <br />ments, Fernside to Maddux, to include proposal for Staff recommendations concerning <br />spot improvements, seconded by Councilman Henderson, <br />Tom Hattie, 2720 Kensington, questioned whether there was <br />going to be covered reinforced concrete pipe, <br />It was stated this would be the case from Fernside downstream, <br />Glen Cooper, 1539 Granger, stated had a definite erosion pro- <br />blem, and that channel had moved four to five feet due to <br />erosion, primarily due to a neighbor's fence which had fallen <br />into the creek and no effort made to remove it. He indicated <br />he would like spot improvement.. <br />It was indicated that the question of spot improvement as a matter of investigation <br />and recommendation by Staff was part of the motion.
