cam ' 7 <br /> Councilman Henderson thereafter moved to adopt Resolution awarding bid to Fairway <br /> Chevrolet , seconded by Councilman Arnett . After again questioning differences in two <br /> bids under question , CouncilmanWymouth suggested bids be rejected and readvertising <br /> authorized . <br /> Councilman Arnett reviewed reasons for Council suggeeting bids be solicited County-wide , <br /> and asked if cars purchased outside the City, what the effect would be on warranty service , <br /> It was pointed out that to deny all bids and readvertise would extend the time of delivery <br /> beyond the period specified in the local bid . Mayor Bury favored award of bid to local <br /> bidder who is the low bidder in dollars , and thereafter try to resolve problems in this <br /> issue with the Car Dealers ' Association . <br /> In response to questioning of City Attorney as to penalties which might be inflicted if <br /> dealer did not meet the approximate delivery date , City Attorney advised City can retain <br /> full amount of bid security; sending notice of cancellation of contract and holding dealer <br /> to difference in price of purchasing after cancellation of bid ; declaring bidder ir - <br /> responsible , all subject to findings in event of going to Court on a breach of contract , <br /> condition varying as to interpretation on " approximate " date of delivery stated . Staff <br /> again questioned on time involved andcosts should car service not be available in Redwood <br /> City when purchased elsewhere . <br /> Motion to adopt Resolution awarding bid to Fairway Chevrolet lost on roll call vote , <br /> Councilmen Arnett and Henderson voting yes , Councilmen Keckley , Petersen , Rosselli , <br /> Weymouth and Mayor Bury voting no . <br /> Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 5979 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING <br /> OF FIVE LATEST MODEL POLICE VEHICLES ( E-Z 1 .vies Chevrolet ) seconded by Councilman <br /> Petersen and carried on roll call vote , Councilmen Arnett and Henderson vot h g no , <br /> Councilmen Keckley , Petersen , Roselli , Weymouth and Mayor Bury voting yes . <br /> Mayor Bury called a five minute recess at 10 : 00 P . M . <br /> AWARD OF BID, Jefferson Avenue -Highland Avenue Improvements ( vicinity of Fire Station <br /> No . 4 ) The following bids were received : <br /> Holm & Elliott , Inc . $ 8 , 886 . 30 <br /> Wenrick & Associates 13 , 404 . 50 <br /> L . C . Smith Co . 13 , 907 . 10 <br /> Engineer ' s Estimate $ 9 , 757 . 25 <br /> Staff recommended award of bid to Holm & Elliott , the low bidder , and noted since they <br /> are also the successful bidders on the property owners ' contract to improve Bel Air Way , <br /> it should expedite construction by having them already at work in the immediate area . <br /> In reply to question concerning installation of warning sign&iization in this vicinity, <br /> City Manager stated although not a part of this action Council would be given a recom- <br /> mendation concerning such an installation before completion of Fire Station #4 . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 5980 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION <br /> OF JEFFERSON AVENUE -HIGHLAND AVENUE IMPROVEMENTS ; REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED ; <br /> AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK ; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY DEPOSITS , <br /> seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried on roll call vote . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 5981 OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br /> REDWOOD CITY FINDING AND DETERMINING THAT' THE PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSITY REQUIRE THE <br /> ACQUISITION AND CONSTRUCTION BY THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY OF 41 PUBLIC IMPROVEMENT, NAMELY <br /> A PUBLIC STREET, IN AND UPON THAT CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY HEREIN DESCRIBED ; THAT THE ACQUISITION <br /> taY 12 '69 <br />
