482
made by the applicant in the following public hearing to rezone an individual
parcel of property in this same area and this proposed rezoning would , in effect ,
allow trailer parks as an interim use of industrially-zoned land in the entire
strip along East Bayshore between Harbor Boulevard and the City limits to the south -
east , subject in each case to obtaining a Use Permit .
It was noted also , inasmuch as this particular area has a range of land uses ,
from transient and mobile residential units and motels , to various types of industrial
activities , mainly storage yards , the addition of the "T " Combining District would
allow expansion of motels and trailer parks , subject to Use Permits , and would
place some of the existing nonconforming developments into a conforming status .
William Hoff , of Bay Slurry Seal Company , Inc . ,
1893 East Bayshore Road , questioned affect of this
proposed rezoning on their own business and its present
operation .
Planning Director assured that the proposed rezoning by addition of the " T "
Combining to the present zoning would in no manner deprive any property owners
of the use or operation of their property as now enjoyed , but would add the possibility
of three additional uses for property subject to a Use Permit , in each case , for
motel , trailer park , or hospital , or in other words , would increase latitude in
pre -existing uses in the neighborhood .
There being no communications or oral protest , Councilman Rosselli moved to close
the public hearing , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried .
Councilman Keckley moved to introduce Ordinance adding; Section 60 . 23 . 2 to Ordinance
No . 1130 , the Redwood City Zoning Ordinance , rezoning property in the vicinity of
Bayshore Frontage Road and the Bayshore Freeway Harbor Woodside Interchange ,
seconded by Councilman Weymouth and carried .
PUBLIC HEARING , application of LARRY M , REED to amend the Zoning Map to rezone pro-
perty located at 1903 Bayshore ( Lot 1 , Block 2 , Friend Industrial Tract ) , from
" IR" ( Industrial -Restricted ) District to " IR -T " ( Industrial -Restrict -Transient
Residential Units Combining ) District , continued to November 2. 4 , 1969 , without
opening , as suggested by Staff on motion of Councilman Rosselli , Seconded by
Councilman Arnett .
It was reported this request for rezoning had been recommended for approval by
the Planning Commission , but since the previous public hearing on the Resolution
of Intention by the Planning Commission had incorporated this property in the area
just approved for same rezoning , it was suggested that this public hearing be
continued to November 24 , when entire area rezoning is anticipated to be in
effect , and this proceeding could then be terminated .
City Attorney stated if this public hearing not opened at this time , and action
taken to continue as suggested , it would not preclude possibility of public hear- --
ing being held should ordinance proposed for rezoning whole of area not become
effective .
Mr . Larry Reed , 1903 Bayshore , applicant for
rezoning of his property , already included in previous
public hearing to same rezoning as that requested by him
was given a clarification of action proposed and
assurance this public hearing was only being continued
