Bury noted his intention <br /> to be at this meetinx , inasmuch as he was a member of the Finance Committee and <br /> Councilman Rosselli reported that -Tice Mayor. Petersen had stated he also planned <br /> Mayor <br /> attend, this venting . <br /> Tt was noted by City Clerk that only Councilmen Henderson and Rosselli_ had registered <br /> for this Congress of Cities , and offered to make such other registrations desired <br /> by other Council Members . Motion carried . ( MINUTE ORDER f 69 --19R ) <br /> City Attorney reported to Council communication from Public Utilities Commission <br /> Staff advising of their intention to oppose application by Southern Pacific to <br /> revise tariff schedule of commuters and asking City to participate relative to <br /> this matter . <br /> Mayor Bury referred back to the communication from Attorney , Sidney Le Berlin , <br /> requesting Council consider declaring an observance of a Vietnam moratorium on <br /> October 15th , and Presented his views for supporting this observance in order to <br /> brincr personal awareness of all citizens to indicate their desire that this situation <br /> be resolved , and hoped that if any Council action desired , to express themselves <br /> in this present situation , that this would be an appropriate time to take it <br /> Councilman Arnett expressed his opposition to this particular type of display <br /> as indication of pressure not warranted , since he was convinced that the President <br /> of the United States has been exercising every means at his disposal to bring war <br /> to a conclusion , and this type of Pressure not believed by him to be constructive <br /> at the Paris peace table and might even be harmful . <br /> Councilman Weymouth expressed his concern on outcome of thin proposed observation <br /> not being as peaceable as intended . Councilman Keckley felt political overtures <br /> were implied and expressed his reasons for not favoring participation by Redwood <br /> City in response to request by Mayor of New York . <br /> After further discussion , Mayor Bury indicated this observance should be expressed <br /> individually . <br /> Councilman Arnett referred to another request by the Veterans Memorial Commission <br /> for a joint meeting with Council and questioned whether Council representatives <br /> had met as recommended with this Commission . City Manager advised only Staff had <br /> met with the Commission . After further discussion as to most convenient time <br /> for Council to meet with this Commission , Mayor Bury accepted responsibility <br /> to set up a joint meeting . ( Memo 10/14/69 ) . <br /> Mayor Bury reported the communication from Congressman McCloskey submitted to <br /> Council at this meeting was result of a telephone call received by him late this <br /> date , advising this communication would be delivered . It contained a synopsis of <br /> background material and actions to date on the seismic situation in Redwood Shores <br /> for Council ' s information . <br />
