General Plan approved this would offer greater latitude . Planned Development <br /> Permit allows realization of standards , and permits certain r estri_ctions not in <br /> Ordinance . <br /> Attorney Robert J . Costello , representing Leslie Properties , pointed out there are <br /> various procedures applicable to permit exceptions , and Staff is are of them , <br /> and discussed the planned development concept , and its restrictiveness , making �---j <br /> it impractical for large sized developments . He noted two other control tools , <br /> both of which require review and granting of which impose restrictions as to <br /> conditions , and these were Exception procedures , under the Subdivision Ordinance , <br /> and Variance procedure , under the Zoning Ordinance . The existence of these controls <br /> provides adequate safeuards . <br /> Council noted the fact this is a water--oriented sub ? ivi. sion , requi_ri_nn that it be <br /> designed to follow meanderings of waterways , therefore cannot be considered in the <br /> same way as flat land areas . The feeling was expressed that the hope was to have <br /> a unique development , complimentary to the shoreline , through unusual techniques <br /> and imaginative uses of the land . <br /> City Attorney reminded that the meeting of Council and Planning Commission was <br /> called in response to a request by Leslie Properties , the developers , and that a <br /> resolution based on their Application for approval of a Tentative Man of Steinberger <br /> Subdivision , approved and referred to Council by the Planning Commission , could be <br /> considered by Council tonight , if that is the desire . <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6141 , GRANTING EXCEPTIONS TO CERTAIN <br /> PROVISIONS OF CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY - - PEnwOCT) SUOPFS <br /> STEINBERGER SUBDIVISION , seconded by Councilman Arnett . <br /> Councilman rKeckley indicated he was in favor o 1' a.nproving the resolution , but hopel <br /> that in a short time the City will have established standards on street widths . <br /> He felt length of cul -de - sacs should be conditioned by requirement of 40 ' curb to <br /> curb width . <br /> The two exceptions to be granted by this Resolution were read , covering length of <br /> cul -de -sacs , and lot sizes . <br /> Mr . Johnson indicated his appreciation for comments and consideration during the <br /> meeting and indicated their firm will utilize the suggestions in future plans , <br /> Concern regarding lengths of cul -de -sacs was discussed further , and suggestions <br /> for overcoming objectionable aspects included the widening of streets , or provi_dinn <br /> additional access for emergency vehicles.-�~ <br /> Motion carried on roll Pall vote , Councilmen uen.,derson and Petersen bei nc noted <br /> absent . <br /> Review of park land bank and size of proposed parks . <br /> City Manager reported that a meeting had been held that afternoon with represen - <br /> tatives of Leslie Properties rregarding status of present land bank . <br /> Member of Leslie staff was requested to comment , and he advised that in Redwood <br /> Peninsula they have been taking advantage of the neighborhood park dedication <br /> xl <br /> ti '69 <br />
