21) Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6151 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR FURNISHING OF THREE THREE-WHEEL GASOLINE TRAFFIC VEHICLES , seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried on roll call vote . Request for Inter -Service Club Sign on City -owned property at El Camino Real and Claremont Avenue . Councilman Petersen moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO , 6152 AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING REVOCABLE PERMIT FOR INSTALLATION OF A SIGN DISPLAY DESIGNATING SERVICE CLUBS ENGAGED IN CIVIC ACTIVITIES IN CITY OF REDWOOD CITY , seconded by Councilman Rosselli . City Manager advised , in response to Council questions , that sign would be lighted and similar in appearance to the sign presently installed at Chestnut and El Camino Real . A sketch was displayed to illustrate the design , as well as the location of the proposed sign . Mr . Roger Selby , 346 El Camino Real , operator of a motorcycle agency , stated he believed the sign was effective and well done ; however , feared the height and location would have a detrimental effect on his business , Due to unusual manner that side of the block is set back from El Camino Real , exposure is mainly to southbound traffic and fears that a 20 ' high sign installed as planned would further block his store from view . He did not object to the service sign as such , but felt a solution should be worked out . Mrs . Doris Thompson , a member of Park and Recreation Commission , was directed to respond to question of height . The tallest pole , she stated , was 20 ' above ground , with remaining poles of lesser , staggered heights . She pointed out the sketch showed a larger number of service club insignia . Mr . Bud Tyers , Manager of Chevron Station , 410 El Camino Real , objected to location of sign , as lube bay faces island on which it is to beinstalled . In discussion , Council suggested that redesign might be considered , or in - stallation of sign at such an angle as to cause the least amount of inter - ference to neighboring businesses . City Manager advised in response to question that the island was red curbed on El Camino Real side only and Councilman Henderson requested report and recommendation on red curb on all sides at this location as had been recommended by Park and Recreation Commission . She also suggested possibility of placing one of the " Climate Best by Govern - ment Test " signs in the landscaped island at Whipple Avenue at Bayshore off -ramp . Mayor Bury requested report back from Staff . Motion carried on roll call vote . ( Memo 11/12/69 ) Application of Joseph A . Repetti for Exception to the Subdivision Ordinance , to allow subdivision of one parcel into four parcels , and to allow two lots to have street frontages of ten feet where fifty feet is required , 44-56 Orchard Avenue .
