a
Warren Weinstock , 1794 Rosemary Lane , in referring
to one of the Task Force groups under the Citizens
Advisory Committee , many discussions had been held
concerning vehicles parked on public streets and
ways of eliminating , such as through changing
requirements of side yard setbacks on one side of a
residence , thus permitting a larger yard area on the opposite
side to provide parking . Also , it was suggested to provide
adequate side yards in new construction to permit auxiliary
vehicles to park out of public view . Other suggestions
were utilizing unused residential lots , utility easements ,
etc . Concern was that ordinance provides restrictions
without adequate alternatives . He referred to earlier
comments by Mr , Lyons regarding growing number of recreation
type vehicles and he felt if this true , then provision must
be made for them before taking something away .
After additional brief discussion , motion carried on roll call vote , Councilman
Henderson being noted absent .
Legislative Committee Report was presented by Councilman Arnett in the absence of
Committee Chairman , Councilman Henderson .
Committee met on November 12 , 1969 , to discuss matters referred by Council , as
follows :
Letters from Board of Supervisors of Marin County
and City Council of San Mateo requesting support
of resolutions urging early completion of acquisition
of Point Reyes National Seashore Park . Committee
recommended no action , but suggested individual support
as appropriate .
Request of City of San Carlos for support in
opposition to application before Public Utilities
Commission by Southern Pacific Company to discontinue
policy of crediting against commute ticket the
purchase of a one -way ticket from the conductor .
No action by Council recommended .
Board of Supervisors of County of San Mateo
resolution in opposition to proposed changes to
State Constitution ( Article XXVI ) relating to use
of gas tax monies for purposes other than con -
struction and maintenance of streets , roads and
highways . Board requests Council support its
position urging State Constitutional Revision
Commission to recommend no changes be made to Article XXVI .
Board ' s position appears contrary to that which Legislative
Committee would recommend ; therefore it is recommended
Council take no action on Board ' s request .
Councilman Petersen moved to accept the report and recommendations , seconded by Council -
man Keckley and carried . ( MINUTE ORDER # 69 -227 )
Councilman Petersen moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO , 1436 OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY
APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY OF CERTAIN INHABITED TERRITORY
DESIGNATED AS " LAKEVIEW WAY ANNEXATION NO . 2 " , seconded by Councilman Rosselli and
carried on roll call vote , Councilman Henderson being noted absent .
Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO , 1437 , ADDING ARTICLE VI TO CHAPTER 2
OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ( COMMENCING WITH Paragraph 2 . 53 ) PROVIDING
FOR DISPOSITION OF UNCLAIMED PROPERTY COMING INTO POSSESSION OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD
CITY , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried on roll call vote , Councilman
Henderson being noted absent .
DAMAGE CLAIMS : ( 1 ) Mrs . Esther Vargas , 2709 Whipple Avenue , for personal injuries
alleged to have been caused by fall on faulty City sidewalk ; ( 2 ) Theresa Ekhander,
3180 Oak Knoll , for personal injuries alleged to have been caused from fall on
faulty City sidewalk , denied and referred to insurance carrier on motion of
Councilman Petersen , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried .
