45 <br /> Staff repozi stated City ' s share of this project cost was authorized in the <br /> 1969 -1970 budget in the amount of $93 , 000 and the State has agreed to contribute <br /> up to $52 , 000 for which State Highway Commission has authorized funding , and to <br /> be constructed under a Cooperative Agreement with the State Division of Highways . <br /> Staff recommended award of bid to low bidder , Steiny & Mitchell , since this bid <br /> is within the limits set forth in the State agreement . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6165 AWARDING CONTRACT FOR CONSTRUCTION <br /> OF EL CAMINO REAL-JEFFERSON AVENUE WIDENING, CHANNELIZATION AND TRAFFIC SIGNAL <br /> MODIFICATION IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY ; REJECTING ALL OTHER BIDS RECEIVED ; <br /> AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF CONTRACT FOR SAID WORK ; AND DIRECTING RETURN OF SECURITY <br /> DEPOSITS , seconded by Councilman Arnett . <br /> Council questioned high costs and why engineer ' s estimate had been increased since <br /> previous estimate on first call for bids . Director of Public Works advised the <br /> basic reason for increasing engineer ' s estimate was that bids received previously <br /> were much higher , indicating increased costs and that State had since required a <br /> different type of controllers which were more expensive than those originally <br /> expected and estimate now reflects additional costs for such equipment . Motion <br /> carried on roll call vote , Councilman Weymouth being noted absent . <br /> SD -27 <br /> ACCEPTANCE OF PROJECT , /GID 1 -65 , Southwest Area Storm Drains , accepted , subject to the <br /> one -year guarantee of workmanship and materials , on motion of Councilman Rosselli , <br /> seconded by Councilman Keckley . ° <br /> Staff reported this project was designed by Jenks and Adamson , Consulting Engineers , <br /> and constructed by Ernest E . Pestana , Inc . Staff recommended acceptance , subject <br /> to the usual guarantees , since project has been completed to the satisfaction of the <br /> Department of Public Works . ( MINUTE ORDER #69 -231 ) <br /> Reappointment of Councilman Rosselli as City ' s representative to the San Mateo County <br /> Economic Opportunity Commission recommended on motion of Councilman Arnett , <br /> seconded by Councilman Keckley . Mayor Bury had notified Council of request of this <br /> Commission for Council ' s recommendation for a reappointment of a City represen - <br /> tative to this Commission since Councilman Rosselli ' s term was expiring and advised <br /> of Councilman Rosselli ' s willingness to continue to serve on this Commission .
