5 <br /> Councilman Rosselli moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6175 COMMENDING COMMUNITY PLAY <br /> CENTER FOR ITS ACTIVITIES IN THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, seconded by Councilman <br /> Weymouth and carried on roll call vote . <br /> Councilman Henderson moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6176 APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF <br /> $ 1 , 000 FROM UNAPPROPRIATED BALANCE OF BUDGETED RESERVES OF GENERAL FUND FOR <br /> CONTRACTUAL SERVICES WITH THE COMMUNITY PLAY CENTER AND MOTHER ' S CLUB TO BE <br /> USED FOR ACTIVITIES OF GENERAL BENEFIT TO THE CHILDREN AND RESIDENTS OF REDWOOD <br /> CITY , seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried on roll call vote . <br /> Councilman Keckley moved to adopt RESOLUTION NO . 6177 APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING <br /> EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE COMMUNITY PLAY CENTER AND MOTHER ' S CLUB FOR <br /> PERFORMANCE OF CERTAIN COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES , seconded by Councilman Petersen <br /> and carried on roll call vote . <br /> Mr . Gilberto Villarreal , 239 Jeter Street , <br /> informed the Council he was a member of the <br /> Board of Directors , and thanked them for their <br /> actions . <br /> Mayor Bury indicated as a procedural matter , the order of the agenda would be changed <br /> to take up the subject of communications next , as an accommodation to persons <br /> he understood intended to present a petition . <br /> Eileen Gray , 950 Iris Street , presented a petition with <br /> a number of signatures , demanding changes in policy relative <br /> to use of firearms by Police Officers in the apprehension <br /> of felony suspects since recent incident . <br /> Mayor Bury noted these will be made part of the record and subject to examination by <br /> Council and Staff . <br /> Communication delivered to the Clerk during the <br /> meeting by the students in the Government <br /> Affairs Program, requesting direction by Council <br /> as to appropriate methods of dealing with rumors at their <br /> School resulting from Police vs . suspect incident the <br /> previous weekend . Steve Shimek , intern to Mayor <br /> Bury , elaborated , saying their group would like to <br /> report back to their fellow students . <br /> It was the opinion , in the discussion that followed , that it would be inappro - <br /> priate at this time to take action relative to the petition since the matter still <br /> under investigation and official functions should be allowed to continue without <br /> prejudice . <br /> It was agreed that the Government Affairs students would , along with Councilman <br /> Keckley , meet with City Attorney to determine appropriate action in response to <br /> their memorandum . ( Memo 12/16/69 ) <br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to adopt ORDINANCE NO . 1440 AMENDING SECTIONS 27 AND 29 <br /> OF ORDINANCE NO . 1382 , THE SALARY ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF REDWOOD CITY, RELATING <br /> TO THE POSITION OF DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY , seconded by Councilman Arnett and carried <br /> on roll call vote . <br /> DAMAGE CLAIM of California State Automobile Association on behalf of insured , Robert <br /> W . Brown , 1296 Chesterton Avenue , for property damages alleged to have been <br /> caused by City -owned and operated vehicles , denied and referred to insurance <br /> carrier on motion of Councilman Petersen , seconded by Councilman Weymouth and <br /> carried . ( MINUTE ORDER #69 -245 ) <br /> Presentation of proposed CIVIC and CULTURAL CENTER COMPLEX . <br /> City Manager reported on the background for the proposed complex , noting the <br /> recommendation to Council and their acceptance of the selection of Haines and <br /> Tatarian to perform architectural services under agreement with the City , in <br /> connection with the center . Contract was entered into in March of this year , and <br /> since that time , the intensive efforts of that organization has brought about the <br /> preliminary design which would now be on public display for the first time .
