Jones , 724 Lewelling Blvd . , San Leandro , expressing <br /> his approval of the proposal to establish a National Wildlife <br /> Refuge in the South Bay Area ( copy submitted to Council ) <br /> League of Women Voters of South San Mateo County discussing <br /> needs for long range planning of San Mateo County for parks <br /> and open space through 1990 , and urging Council ' s support <br /> of program proposed and attednance at hearing to be held on <br /> March 29th by the County Board of Supervisors ( copy submitted <br /> to Council ) <br /> Mayor Bury asked that City Manager make certain City is represented at this meet - <br /> ing ( Memo 3/18/69 ) <br /> Resolution submitted by the City of Belmont recommending that <br /> the Knox Committee Bay Area Regional Government Proposal be <br /> recommended for adoption by act of the State Legislature ( copy <br /> submitted to Council ) <br /> Mayor Bury asked that this be referred to the Legislative Committee for review ( Memo <br /> 3/18/69 ) <br /> Communication addressed to Mayor Bury and referred by him <br /> for Council ' s information , from Mayor of City of Palo Alto <br /> inviting representation of our City in a parade float and by <br /> attendance to their 75th Anniversary commemorative parade on <br /> Saturday , April 12th . <br /> Mayor Bury expressed hope that City would participate in helping Palo Alto in their <br /> commemorative activities since Redwood City had been in a similar position recently <br /> and had received such participation gestures gratefully . He suggested communication <br /> be particularly referred to the Police Youth Club in hope that the drum corps might <br /> be able to participate and suggested float possibilities be reviewed ( Memo 3/18/69 ) <br /> Councilman Rosselli moved to adjourn by adoption of RESOLUTION NO , 5939 COMMEMORATING <br /> THE MEMORY OF ADIN S . Joseph Mattus , President of the Fun After Fifty Club , accompanied by Mrs . Edith Slack , <br /> a past President of the group , and Glen Smith , County Recreation Director , presented <br /> Mayor Bury with a parchment scroll signed by some 150 senior citizens in appreciation <br /> of the Mayor ' s contribution twards preparation and promotion of , and his participation <br /> in , the senior citizens ' conference that was held last week with representatives from <br /> other senior citizens ' groups and representative officials from various cities and <br /> the County . Mr . Mattus noted fact there were 638 senior citizens in the Fun After <br /> Fifty Group now and that a long waiting list existed for those wanting to join . <br /> t 24 '69 <br />
