<br /> ON ROLL CALL the following were noted present : Councilmen Dixon Arnett , Mary
<br /> W . Henderson , Paul C . Keckley , Herbert G . Petersen , John S . Rosselli , Ray A .
<br /> Weymouth , Mayor Robert H . Bury , and City Clerk Helen C . Moore . Also noted
<br /> present were City Manager Howard C . Ullrich , City Attorney David E . Schricker,
<br /> Assistant City Manager Henry V . Burget , Acting Deputy Police Chief Joel Mans -
<br /> field , Fire Chief J . L . Lodi , Director of Public Works J . Louis Scherer , Plan-
<br /> ing Director Ken Schroeter , City Librarian Karl A . Vollmayer, Auditor-Account -
<br /> ant Jack Ference , Chief Building Official Charles Gyselbrecht , and Deputy City
<br /> Clerk Marian McCrindle .
<br /> Councilman Weymouth moved to approve Minutes of Regular Meeting of April 28 , 1969 , as
<br /> mailed , seconded by Councilman Keckley and carried .
<br /> Mayor Bury announced annual Port luncheon sponsored by the Redwood City Chamber of
<br /> Commerce is to be held on May 23rd , and urged all to attend .
<br /> Mr . DiFranco ' s Naturalization class from Menlo -Atherton Evening High School was wel -
<br /> comed by Mayor Bury on behalf of Council .
<br /> Councilman Keckley introduced Robert Buickerood as newly appointed Chairman of the
<br /> Redwood City Cultural Enrichment Program Committee . Councilman Keckley advised
<br /> Committee resulted from recommendations of the Centennial Committee for promotion
<br /> of cultural enrichments to the community . Mayor Bury , on behalf of Council and
<br /> community , expressed appreciation for Mr . Buickerood ' s acceptance of this respon-
<br /> sibility .
<br /> Loyalty Oath administered by City Clerk and Certificates of Appointment presented to
<br /> Jack Stuart , reappointed to another term on the Park and Recreation Commission ,
<br /> and to Larry Schenck , newly appointed member of this Commission .
<br /> Monthly Progress Report - Redwood Shores .
<br /> City Manager reported Willis Caryl , Field Engineer of DMJM, would report on the
<br /> construction program, to be followed by James Reiter , Project Manager. of DMJM,
<br /> reporting on proposed "D " Bond issue , and then a report by Mr . Ribera , of Ribera
<br /> and Sue , City ' s landscape consultants for project , highlighting designs proposed
<br /> for the parkways and fencing .
<br /> Mr , Caryl reported considerable number of events on the
<br /> project since last report ; namely , Marine World reopen-
<br /> ing model homes open for inspection this last Sunday ;
<br /> total start on housing now 139 , of which 81 already
<br /> sold ; subdivision improvements in priority areas anti -
<br /> cipated for completion in another two weeks ; import fill
<br /> continuing in Marlin area ; site grading on 115 acres on
<br /> Steinberger , site preparation #6 , and interior waterways
<br /> covering some 200 acres also commenced ; dredge operating
<br /> in interior waterways on clearing up work ; Division of
<br /> Highways working on the Ralston-Marine World Parkway inter-
<br /> change and culvert .
<br /> He advised of improvement plans for Peninsula Parkway now
<br /> out to bid , plans forParkway Bridge in checking stage , as
<br /> well as Marlin Subdivision#2 , and currently working on
<br /> design studies along Belmont drain .
<br /> Mr . Caryl also advised of the project presentation he and
<br /> Mr . Scherer, Director of Public Works , had made recently
<br /> to Public Works officials .
<br /> In reply to question as to source of import fill , Mr . Caryl
<br /> advised material received from 19th Avenue Freeway in San
<br /> Mateo from subdivision construction in area ,
