Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of February 7, 2002 <br /> ITEM 3 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> The Commissioners requested that the review of the large grant packet and <br /> timeline be placed on the March agenda. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Chairperson Dale announced that the theme of the 2002 Art Contest will be <br /> "Animals of the World". Packets will be delivered to the schools this week <br /> and the Commissioners will be voting on the winners at the April Commission <br /> meeting. The Art Contest Awards Ceremony will be held at the Council <br /> Chambers at the May 2 Commission meeting. <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events, `Tis the Season <br /> Commissioner Ball reported that the `Tis the Season Committee has begun <br /> work on the 2002 event. <br /> Secretary Monroe reported that several CDs and tapes have been received <br /> from prospective bands interested in playing at our summer concerts. <br /> Superintendent Beth reported that Recreation Manager Jordana <br /> Schneiderman will be working with the sub-committee to work on the 2002 <br /> Summer Concert Series. The Summer Concert Sub-Committee consisting of <br /> Commissioners Ball, Del Carlo and Kushin with meet with Manager <br /> Schneiderman in the next few weeks. Chairperson Dale will be attending the <br /> February meeting of the Port Commission regarding potential funding for this <br /> year's concert series. <br /> -Strategic Plan Update <br /> This item is scheduled for the March meeting. <br /> -San Mateo County Arts Council <br /> Commissioner Douglas spoke about his conversation with Art Share and <br /> confirmed that he is not on their board of directors as was noted in a <br /> publication. He announced the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors <br /> appointed Art Share as the County's new cultural commission. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi spoke about the Ledesma Art Exhibit to be held at <br /> City Hall on Thursday, February 21 from 5:30-7:30pm. She also spoke about <br /> the Sequoia Art Group's desire to rotate pieces of Ledesma art work to <br /> different City facilities and wanted to make sure there were no liability issues <br /> for organization. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported that the Art Center has only one studio <br /> opening and that their facility rental costs have been going down. <br />
