Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of March 7, 2002 <br /> March 18, and a sign-up list was distributed to the Commissioners. The <br /> Commissioners were reminded that they would need to vote on the art <br /> contest winners by the April 4 meeting. <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> `Tis the Season <br /> No report. <br /> Approach Port Commission for 2002 Concert Funding <br /> Commissioner Douglas reported that he attended the February meeting of <br /> the Port Commission to request funding for our 2002 Concert Series. The <br /> Port Commission approved $5,500 in funding with the stipulation that the <br /> Commission have one of the concerts at the Port. Director Centeno agreed <br /> to draft a letter to the Port Commission agreeing to have one of the concerts <br /> at the Port. <br /> 2002 Summer Concert Series <br /> The Concert Sub-Committee consisting of Commissioners Ball, Del Carlo and <br /> Kushin will be meeting on March 15 to begin work on the Summer Concert <br /> Series. <br /> Commissioner Douglas spoke about having the Commission assume <br /> responsibility of the Downtown Jazz Series previously organized by the Raiser <br /> Resources Group. He noted he will be attending a meeting with Mayor Claire <br /> and the Raisers to discuss this matter further. The Commissioners expressed <br /> their concern about being able to assume this responsibility and it was <br /> suggested that the Commission find another group or individual who could be <br /> the event organizer. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Del Carlo: To help a committee get the Jazz Series <br /> started. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi announced that more than 60 people attended the <br /> Ledesma Art Exhibit on February 21. She thanked staff for their work in <br /> making this event so successful. <br /> ITEM 3 —EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD OVER THE PAST <br /> 30 DAYS <br /> This item was deferred until the April meeting. <br />
