Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of March 7, 2002 <br /> M/S Douglas/Kushin: To send a letter to Principal Morgan <br /> Marchbanks, Superintendent 3oAnn Smith, and the Board of Trustees <br /> expressing the Commission's concerns about the music program at <br /> Sequoia High School and to offer the Commission's assistance and <br /> setting up a meeting to discuss the matter further. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Chairperson Dale agreed to draft the letter for the Commission. <br /> ITEM 1 — COMMISSION STRATEGIC PLAN DISCUSSION <br /> The Commissioners reviewed the draft Strategic Plan and made suggestions <br /> and corrections to the document. A revised document will be provided to the <br /> Commissioners at the April meeting for further review and approval. <br /> ITEM 2 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> The Commissioners reviewed the Large Grant Funding timeline, guidelines <br /> and allocated percentages. <br /> M/S Ball/Soultanian: To accept the percentages on the Large Grant <br /> funding packet as presented. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> M/S Kushin/Britschgi: To accept the Large Grant funding report as <br /> presented. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> The Commissioners discussed their proposed budget increase for Fiscal Years <br /> 2002-2003 and 2003-2004. Director Centeno explained that City staff has <br /> been instructed to maintain 0-2% increase in supplies and services and <br /> capital expenses. The Commissioners discussed increasing their proposed <br /> budget to $1.50 per capita in year one of the budget and $2.00 per capita in <br /> year two. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Ball: That the Commission request over the two year <br /> budget cycle, an increase of $1.50 per capita in year one and $2.00 <br /> per capita in year two. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Commissioner Soultanian reported she contacted all schools participating in <br /> this year's Art Contest and also contacted two local newspapers about <br /> advertising the contest. The Commissioners were asked to help pick-up the <br /> art contest entries from local schools on Friday, March 15 or Monday, <br />
