Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of April 4, 2002 <br /> Redwood City International <br /> Andy Frisch spoke on behalf of the $1,000.00 grant request from Redwood <br /> City International which would provide funding for their Cinco de Mayo event <br /> at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center on May 2. He said this event would <br /> celebrate the cultural heritage of Redwood City and for its Sister City in <br /> Colima, Mexico. <br /> M/S Douglas/Britschgi: To grant $1,000.00 to Redwood City <br /> International. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Northern California Bluegrass Society <br /> Patrick Weldon and Michael Hall spoke on behalf of their $1,000.00 grant <br /> request which would provide funding for a one day bluegrass festival to be <br /> held on June 29 at either the Pacific Shores Amphitheater or a piece of <br /> property in downtown Redwood City. <br /> M/S Kushin/Douglas: To grant $1,000.00 to the Northern California <br /> Bluegrass Society. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> The Commissioners took a recess at 8:00pm and reconvened at 8:15pm. <br /> The Commissioners agreed to transfer the remaining balance of $2,625.00 in <br /> Large Grants into Small Grants in their Fiscal Year 2001-2002 budget. <br /> ITEM 2 — REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF COMMISSION STRATEGIC PLAN <br /> The Commissioners reviewed the draft Strategic Plan and made minor <br /> changes to the document. <br /> M/S Douglas/Kushin: To approve the finalized Strategic Plan. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 3 — SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> Director Centeno reviewed the City's budget process with the Commission. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Chairperson Dale will draft a letter to schools as agreed to at the March <br /> meeting. <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> Commissioner Soultanian spoke about changing some of the residency <br /> requirements on the art contest and suggested putting out a press release <br />
