Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of April 4, 2002 <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi asked the Commissioners where they would like the <br /> Ledesma work to be placed after it is removed from the City Hall Gallery at <br /> the end of April. The Commissioners discussed various locations including <br /> the Senior Center. <br /> M/S Britschgi/Soultanian: To move the Ledesma art work to the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center with some work to remain there <br /> permanently and others to be rotated to other locations for now. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi announced the Art Center will be having a "Spring Art <br /> Treasures Sale" on April 27. There will also be a reception sponsored by the <br /> Federated Women's Club on May 9 from 5:00-7:OOpm which will feature <br /> students' work. <br /> ITEM 3 -EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD OVER THE PAST <br /> 30 DAYS <br /> The Commissioners attended the following events during the past 30 days: <br /> Britschgi - Sedona, Arizona art galleries; opening of Omni Hotel in San <br /> Francisco <br /> Douglas - museums in Connecticut; dinner at New York Stock Exchange <br /> which involved heavy security <br /> Ball - Women's History event at Senior Center; granddaughter's choral <br /> concert in Walnut Creek <br /> Soultanian - explored various locations in San Francisco in order to prepare <br /> for her students' art project; this will be her last meeting and she has <br /> enjoyed her work on the Commission <br /> Kushin - COPIA museum in Napa; San Jose Museum of Art; art exhibit <br /> featuring a local artist; "Blythe Spirit"; guest speaker series featuring Anita <br /> Hill <br /> Dale - Masterworks performance of"Sounds of the World"; San Mateo <br /> Historical Museum exhibit "Journey to Work"; "Dancing in Logasa"; Women's <br /> History event at Senior Center; St. Patrick's event <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> Commissioner Soultanian will return at the June meeting to have <br /> refreshments with the Commission. It was suggested that the Commission <br /> meeting be adjourned in honor of Commissioner Soultanian for her service to <br /> the Commission. <br /> Commissioner Ball spoke about Stanford Shopping Center's drive to collect <br /> musical instruments for local schools. She also reported on a recent article <br /> written about how music improves the lives of Alzheimer's patients. <br />
