Civic Cultural Commission Page 5 <br /> Minutes of June 6, 2002 <br /> City. He announced that a community based committee will work on the <br /> exhibit which will help tell the story of Redwood City. <br /> -Sequoia High School <br /> Kate Sheehan, Nicolai Larsen and Kai Larsen spoke about their grant request <br /> which will help fund a mural in the inner-courtyard/quad area on the Sequoia <br /> High School campus. Ms. Sheehan, a Sequoia High art teacher, stated the <br /> school's Mural Club has organized this project and they have already received <br /> project approval from the Historic Resources Advisory Committee and the <br /> Sequoia Union High School District. She invited the community to participate <br /> in this project on Tuesdays from 2:00pm until dark. Ms. Sheehan estimated <br /> the mural would have a life of 10 years and would be 25' x 40' in size. <br /> -Sequoia High School Alumni Association <br /> Loretta Knight and Jeff Filippi spoke about the Alumni's "Horses to <br /> Horsepower" Car Show to be held in October 5-6,2002. The event will <br /> feature 400 cars and they would like to feature an all day concert on the <br /> campus in conjunction with the event. The grant would provide funding for <br /> the six musical groups performing at this concert. Mr. Filippi and Ms. Knight <br /> spoke about the outreach efforts made on this event. <br /> -`Tis the Season <br /> Bob Slusser spoke about this year's grant request and noted that they have <br /> reduced the amount of their grant request. <br /> The Commissioners took a recess at 9:13pm and reconvened at 9:24pm. <br /> ITEM 2 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> The Commissioners discussed their budget and agreed to have the sub- <br /> committee meet to develop a recommendation on their budget request and <br /> bring back to the July meeting. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> -Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> `Tis the Season - Nothing to report <br /> 2002 Summer Concert Series - Chairperson Dale directed the sub-committee <br /> to set up a meeting to review their decisions based on concerns expressed <br /> under Oral Communications. The Commissioners signed up to be hosts at <br /> upcoming concerts. <br />
