Civic Cultural Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of August 1, 2002 <br /> Commissioner Britschgi stated that the only grant request received this year <br /> for public art was from Sequoia High School. She would like to encourage <br /> Sequoia High School to apply for a small grant and stated she would also like <br /> to see a finalized form of the mural before approving a small grant. <br /> Commissioner Kushin felt that the Commission should not be a censor of art <br /> work and that it should support public art without seeing the final product. <br /> M/S Del Carlo/Ball: To deny the grant request of Sequoia High <br /> School. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-4, No-2) <br /> The Commissioners requested a letter be sent to Sequoia High School to <br /> encourage them to apply for a small grant and request that the Commission <br /> would like to see the mural in a more final form. <br /> Jackie Powell of Kainos thanked the Commission for their grant approved this <br /> evening and announced a showing of Kainos participant art work at the <br /> Redwood City Art Center in October. <br /> The meeting took a short recess at 9:00pm and reconvened at 9:15pm. <br /> The Commissioners requested that all grants denied this evening be given <br /> the opportunity to apply for a small grant. They were advised that staff has <br /> already received three small grant applications for the September meeting. <br /> ITEM 2 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Budget <br /> This item was discussed in Item 1. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> -Tis the Season <br /> Nothing to report <br /> -Summer Concert Series <br /> Surveys will be given out at the last two summer concerts. Surveys will be <br /> sent to the neighbors after the concert series has finished. <br /> -Live in Downtown Music Series <br /> Commissioner Douglas reported that a new banner advertising the music <br /> series will be hung on Middlefield Road. He also mentioned that Middlefield <br /> Road might be closed for next week's performance. <br />
