Civic Cultural Commission Page 2 <br /> Minutes of November 7, 2002 <br /> M/S Britschgi/Douglas: To purchase the Ledesma painting for <br /> $525.00. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> The funds for the purchase will be taken from the Public Art account. <br /> Commissioner Britschgi suggested that the City's collection of Ledesma art <br /> work be appraised. Director Centeno will check on the process and report <br /> back at the next meeting. <br /> ITEM 2 - SMALL GRANT REQUESTS <br /> -Martin Luther King Freedom Committee <br /> Several members of the Martin Luther King Freedom Committee spoke on <br /> behalf of their $1,000.00 grant request. John Levinson gave the history of <br /> the Martin Luther King celebration in Redwood City and Rene Vaughn spoke <br /> about the event scheduled for January 18, 2003 at the Veterans Memorial <br /> Senior Center from 1:00-5:OOpm. <br /> -Concentric Media <br /> Anilise Hyllmon spoke on behalf of their $1,000 grant request and provided <br /> the history of Concentric Media, a 501c3 organization. She stated the grant <br /> would provide funding for the premiere of two films at the Fox Theater in <br /> February 2003. <br /> M/S Kushin/Britschgi: To grant the Martin Luther King Freedom <br /> Committee $750.00 for performances and exhibits at their 2003 <br /> event. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> M/S Williams/Douglas: To grant $500.00 to Concentric Media. <br /> Motion passed unanimously. <br /> ITEM 3 - PROPOSED CITY SONG CONTEST <br /> The Commissioners discussed the idea of a City Song Contest and decided to <br /> allot 15 minutes at the January Commission to brainstorm the idea. <br /> ITEM 4 - SUB-COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> -Sub-Committee Assignments <br /> The Commissioners volunteered for sub-committee assignments and a new <br /> assignment listing will be sent out. <br />
