Civic Cultural Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of November 7, 2002 <br /> -Budget <br /> Chairperson Dale discussed a possible fundraising special event at the Port. <br /> Director Centeno gave the Commissioners an update of the City's current <br /> budget situation. <br /> -Children and Schools <br /> The sub-committee will need to meet to determine the theme for the <br /> Childrens' Art Contest in January. <br /> Cultural Commission Sponsored Events <br /> -Tis the Season <br /> Commissioner Douglas gave an update of the 'Tis the Season events to be <br /> held on Saturday, December 7. <br /> -Summer Concert Series <br /> Nothing to report. <br /> -Live in Downtown Music Series <br /> Chairperson Dale reported that he and Commissioner Douglas will be meeting <br /> with Susan Moeller to discuss the 2003 Downtown Music series. <br /> -Public Art <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported that a draft of the proposed Public Art <br /> ordinance will be on the January agenda for Commission review and <br /> approval. <br /> -Friends of the Civic Cultural Commission <br /> Commissioner Britschgi reported the sub-committee has not met. <br /> ITEM 5 -EVALUATION OF CULTURAL EVENTS HELD OVER THE PAST <br /> 30 DAYS <br /> The Commissioners attended the following events during the past 30 days: <br /> Williams - Kids Art Day, San Jose Tech Museum, museum in Rotterdam <br /> Kushin - Peninsula Symphony at Fox Theater, ACT, Palm Springs Indian <br /> reservation, World Series at Mulligan's <br /> Douglas - Beach Boys at Fox Theater <br /> Ayala - retreat in San Juan Bautista, two movies, Dia de Muerte activity in <br /> Stanford <br /> Britschgi - Kainos reception, Carmen at Fox Theater, Vienna Boys Choir, <br /> Beach Boys <br /> Dale - "Women Have Curves" at Canada College, Egyptian class and exhibit, <br /> Kainos exhibit, Carmen at Fox Theater, visited Spain and Portugal and saw <br /> music fado, flamenco in caves, Prado, Museum of Modern Art in Madrid <br />
