ITEM 4-CHAS
Chairperson Anthony said he and Superintendent Hartman each have a copy
of the final adopted CHAS report for the Commissioners' review.
Chairperson Anthony said he would review the report and make a synopsis
of the report to the Commission at our February meeting.
ROUNDTABLE
-Superintendent Hartman asked Executive Director Bransford if the Senior
Affairs meetings from February through May could be held at the Fairs Oaks
Senior Center due to construction being performed at the Senior Center
Annex. Director Bransford agreed to schedule the meetings at her facility.
-Executive Director Bransford reported that classes began in January at the
Fair Oaks Senior Center. They are now offering citizenship classes and have
been approved to hold citizenship testing at their location. She said
participation in this program has been growing and many new citizens have
been added to our population.
-Executive Director Bransford said her I&R person is performing more
outreach into the community through telemarketing efforts. She is using a
telephone cross directory and making phone calls to determine if there is a
senior living in each home. Information is being collected about where each
senior lives and follow-up calls are being made to them.
-Library Supervisor Val Hamilton reported that tax forms are available at the
Library and this year tax help will be available to any individual in the
community regardless of income level. Tax help will be provided on
Saturdays, March 19 and 26 and April 2 and 9 from 10:00am-2:OOpm in the
Small Meeting Room at the Main Library. There is no charge for the service
and no appointment is necessary. She also mentioned that the card catalog
system in the Library has been replaced by a computer system which seems to
be well received by the public.
The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at
10:40am to be reconvened at 9:00am on Wednesday, February 9, 1994 at the
Fair Oaks Senior Center, 2600 Middlefield Road, Redwood City, California.
