CORRESPONDENCE
-Booklets entitled " New Lifestyles for Seniors" and "Help at Home" were
given out to the Commissioners.
ANNOUNCEMENTS
-Chairperson Anthony stated Commissioners Berglund and Truscelli did not
re-apply for the Senior Affairs Commission and announced they will be
finishing their terms this month. He recognized their efforts put forth on the
Commission and wanted to express his appreciation to them.
-Chairperson Anthony announced the Human Race is over and he is
collecting donations for the race.
ITEM 2-VEHICLE PURCHASE FOLLOW-UP
Chairperson Anthony announced that Superintendent Hartman made a
presentation to the Veterans Memorial Senior Advisory Council regarding
the proposal to purchase a vehicle. Commissioner Truscelli confirmed that
the Senior Advisory Council decided to appropriate $40,000.00 for the
purchase of the van with certain conditions. Those conditions are: the van is
to be used for senior purposes; any other uses are to be governed by senior
need; an agreement needs to be developed with the City for its use; the City
will furnish insurance for the vehicle and provide for its maintenance.
Chairperson Anthony noted that the cost of a replacement vehicle is not
included in the cost of the maintenance and insurance.
Superintendent Hartman suggested having the vehicle vendors make
presentations/demonstrations of their products to the Commission
representatives from the Senior Advisory Council, and a City Auto Shop
representative in order to develop vehicle specifications. Commissioner
Jordan encouraged the Commission to be very clear about we need and want
in a vehicle.
ITEM 3 -TRANSPORTATION
Chairperson Anthony said the PCC will meet on May 20 at 9:30am at the San
Mateo Senior Center to discuss the distribution monies available for
paratransit services in San Mateo County. A report will be presented and a
decision and recommendation will be made at this meeting. Commissioner
Jordan strongly encouraged the members of the PCC to be firm in monitoring
and retaining monies allocated for paratransit services.
