ITEM 3-FOLLOW-UP ON PEER COUNSELING UPDATE <br /> Supervisor Griffiths explained that due to the many problems the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center has been experiencing with their nutrition program, <br /> neither she nor Marianne Mannia have been able to make any progress on <br /> this matter. Commissioners Lloyd, Newell and Supervisor Griffith will meet <br /> to discuss further. <br /> ITEM 1-FOLLOW-UP REPORT REGARDING CONCERNS ON HOUSING <br /> ISSUES <br /> Chairperson Anthony stated that he and Commissioners Lloyd and Newell <br /> attended the last Housing and Human Concerns Committee (HHCC) meeting <br /> and informed the Commission the HHCC will be changing the way they <br /> disburse funds. They will be combining the funding request process for both <br /> the Financial Assistance program and the Community Development Block <br /> Grant (CDBG) program. The next HHCC meeting will be a public hearing <br /> scheduled for December 15 and will be held in the old Library. Chairperson <br /> Anthony will attend this meeting and report back to the Commission. <br /> Chairperson Anthony said he spoke to Debbi Jones-Thomas regarding the <br /> roof repair and cable TV issues at a local senior housing complex. She <br /> indicated that her department has the mechanism to resolve these problems <br /> and not involve any of the senior residents. Commissioner Newell suggested <br /> having Ms. Jones-Thomas contact Bonnie Brae Terrace to find out how they <br /> handled the installation of cable TV for its residents. <br /> Chairperson Anthony will contact Derek White of the San Mateo County <br /> Housing Authority to follow up on a list of low income housing available in <br /> the County. He will also contact Cornish and Carey Real Estate to obtain <br /> copies of their booklet entitled "Where to Live". <br /> ITEM 5-TRANSPORTATION <br /> Commissioner Lloyd stated the Veterans Memorial Senior Advisory Council <br /> has put funds aside for the purchase of the bus/van. Superintendent <br /> Hartman reported that Jan Knight met with a representative from the <br /> California Highway Patrol and Larry Barwacz of the Auto Shop to discuss the <br /> purchase of a bus/van for the accessible recreation program. The CHP <br /> representative would not commit to any information about the license <br /> requirements changing in 1995. Superintendent Hartman said she has many <br /> serious concerns about the transportation issue and feel they need to be <br /> discussed further before the purchase of the bus/van. <br />
