He <br /> read a letter he received from the Veterans Memorial Senior Advisory <br /> Council dated March 1994 regarding their agreement to fund the purchase of <br /> the vehicle and the salaries of the driver and dispatcher. <br /> -Report on Countywide Meeting <br /> Chairperson Lloyd reported that he and Commissioner Anthony attended the <br /> countywide transportation meeting recently and spoke about the various <br /> issues that were discussed. Commissioner Anthony spoke about the <br /> Paratransit Coordinating Council (PCC) and its purpose in relation to <br /> transportation issues. <br /> ITEM 2-ELDER ABUSE REPORT <br /> Chairperson Lloyd stated he would like to arrange a speaker to address the <br /> Commission on this topic at our May meeting. <br /> ITEM 3-VOLUNTEER PROGRAM <br /> Commissioner Anthony reported that the Volunteer Centers of California <br /> will be sponsoring the "Human Race" walk/run to be held on May 13 at <br /> Coyote Point. Many seniors from the Veterans Memorial Senior Center <br /> participate in the event and collect donations to benefit RSVP. Twenty Five <br /> percent of the proceeds will go to Volunteer Centers of California and 75% to <br /> RSVP. <br /> Chairperson Lloyd announced there will be an RSVP Recognition party on <br /> May 6 at the San Mateo Performing Arts Center. Supervisor Griffith <br /> announced Volunteer Week will be held April 23-27 and several events are <br /> being planned. Chairperson Lloyd stated that many groups usually hold their <br /> own volunteer celebration events. Superintendent Hartman asked if lists of <br /> volunteers could be developed from each senior organization in order to <br /> formulate a master listing of volunteers. Commissioner Newell spoke about <br /> the volunteer recognition program held at Little House. Superintendent <br /> Hartman suggested that the Senior Affairs Commission be involved in the <br /> volunteer recognition events at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center. <br />
