The Commissioners discussed the various agencies on the CDBG/HSFA <br /> funding list who provide essential services to the senior population of <br /> Redwood City such as Rosener House, Catholic Charities and HIP. It was <br /> suggested having a representative from HIP come speak to the Commission. <br /> Supervisor Griffith suggested introducing the Commissioners at the various <br /> senior club meetings and inviting the club members to attend the <br /> Commission meetings. Supervisor Griffiths also suggested placing an "Alert" <br /> column in the newsletter to advise seniors of various "scams" and other <br /> important information. <br /> ITEM 5-TRANSPORTATION UPDATE <br /> Commissioner Anthony stated he is a representative on PCC and since he is <br /> leaving the Commission, a new representative will need to be appointed. <br /> Chairperson Lloyd asked if Commissioner Anthony could remain as our <br /> representative and report back when there is information to communicate. <br /> Commissioner Anthony agreed to remain the representative. <br /> The Commissioners discussed the complaint process for Rediwheels and the <br /> need for a separate phone line to report complaints. Currently, the phone to <br /> report complaints and to place a reservation are the same number, which is <br /> frequently busy. Superintendent Hartman suggested the Commissioners give <br /> their list of Rediwheels complaints to Commissioner Anthony for follow up. <br /> Commissioner Walsh gave the Commissioners a name of an attorney who <br /> works on the Commission on Aging and has been following the operation of <br /> the Rediwheels program. Commissioner Anthony announced he will be <br /> attending a PCC retreat in July. <br /> Commissioner Newell mentioned he would like the Commission to sponsor <br /> an education forum on Rediwheels at the Veterans Senior Center and offered <br /> to help organize the event. <br /> M/S Newell/Capone: To have the Senior Affairs Commission support and <br /> sponsor an educational forum on Rediwheels in the next <br /> 1-2 months. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> ITEM 7-COMMISSIONS&BOARDS WORKSHOP <br /> Superintendent Hartman reminded the Commission about the Commission <br /> and Boards workshop to be held on Saturday, May 13 in the Library <br /> Community Room. The workshop will include training to develop a <br /> Commission workplan and a presentation on the Brown Act by the City <br /> Attorney. Lunch will also be provided. <br />
