ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Commissioner Walsh attended the town hall meeting sponsored by Tom <br /> Campbell on April 11. <br /> -Commissioner Anthony announced he will be walking in the Human Race <br /> on May 13 to benefit RSVP and is accepting donations. He noted that out of <br /> 900 countywide volunteers, 200 volunteers either work or live in Redwood <br /> City. <br /> -Chairperson Lloyd announced a "Technology for Independent Living Fair" <br /> to be held at Burgess Park on May 19-20. <br /> -Chairperson Lloyd received a newsletter from TURN regarding proposed <br /> rate increases for PG&E. <br /> -Superintendent Hartman announced the gazebo dedication will take place <br /> on June 7 at 1:00pm. The gazebo was donated by a former City employee in <br /> memory of her mother. <br /> -Commissioner Capone attended the May 8 City Council meeting and noted <br /> that Vice Mayor Hartnett handed out a study on the proposed traffic light <br /> near John Gill School and said this matter is to be placed on the May 14 <br /> agenda so the City Council could vote on it. <br /> -Commissioner Walsh discussed the research he is doing regarding Medicare <br /> issues. He is contacting local hospitals to see how their staff reductions and <br /> cost savings might translate to costs of health care for seniors. <br /> -Commissioner Newell stated that departing Commissioners Anthony, <br /> Jordan, Metzdorf and Sharp were on the Senior Affairs Commission for a <br /> long time and wished to thank them for all the great work they have done <br /> and wished them well. <br /> M/S Newell/Capone: To commend the fine work of Commissioners <br /> Anthony, Jordan, Metzdorf and Sharp. <br /> Motion passed. <br /> Superintendent Hartman said Bea Metzdorf will be receiving her plaque from <br /> the City Council at the June Commission meeting and Commissioner <br /> Anthony will receive his at a City Council meeting. Supervisor Griffith <br /> welcomed the new Commissioners and thanked Commissioner Anthony for <br /> his work on the Commission. <br />
