If extended case <br /> management is needed, the social workers can also make arrangements for <br /> this service. <br /> Ms. Fellows noted that Aging and Adult Services also has access to <br /> comprehensive program services throughout the Bay Area. All services are <br /> free and people do not have to be on Medi-Cal or welfare, or have a low <br /> income to receive these services. She explained they are also a State <br /> designated agency that investigates elder or dependent adult abuse. All <br /> people have to do is call TIES to report a case of abuse. <br /> Ms. Fellows showed a video to the Commissioners regarding elder abuse and <br /> left the video so it could be shown to other groups. She also mentioned that <br /> Aging and Adult Services representatives have been doing outreach to the <br /> community including trainings with the Police and Fire Departments. Ms. <br /> Fellows stated that they receive approximately 30 calls regarding elder abuse <br /> each month and mentioned that 1 in 20 elders could expect to be abused. She <br /> will obtain additional statistical information and forward to Supervisor Linda <br /> Griffith. <br /> Ms. Fellows stated a Police Protocol Committee has been established to help <br /> deal with elder abuse cases with local police departments. Chairperson Lloyd <br /> announced he will be attending the "Break the Silence" elder abuse <br /> presentation on Thursday, June 22 from 8:OOam-3:30pm at the Airport Hilton. <br /> The Commissioners discussed ways to deal with the elder abuse issue and <br /> how they could help. Supervisor Griffith volunteered to help coordinate <br /> speakers for any senior groups on various subjects including elder abuse. It <br /> was suggested having the Commissioners spread the word by taking <br /> information to other service groups they belong to. <br /> ITEM 3-TRANSPORTATION <br /> -PCC Update <br /> Jack Anthony gave an update on PCC activities. He discussed the recent <br /> incident where a person was taken by Redi-Wheels to a funeral and they <br /> forgot to pick her up and she had to wait 4 hours in the cemetery. He stressed <br /> he will be bringing this matter to the attention of the PCC. Mr. Anthony <br /> announced PCC received applications for funding under FTA Section 16 for <br /> San Mateo County. He noted that the application is very extensive but <br /> assistance is available to help fill it out. He reviewed the application <br /> submitted by East Palo Alto. <br /> Commissioner Penna inquired about the status of the bus for the Veterans <br /> Memorial Senior Center. Superintendent Hartman updated all the new <br /> Commissioners on the status of the bus and the reasons why it was not being <br />
