ITEM 4-PROGRESS REPORT ON COMMISSION WORKPLAN <br /> ASSIGNMENTS <br /> Supervisor Griffith said she has been unsuccessful in her attempts to reach <br /> Marie Walsh to have her speak at the May Commission meeting on peer <br /> counseling. Representatives from HIP have contacted the department and <br /> would also like to speak at a Commission meeting. It was decided to have <br /> HIP come to the May meeting and Peer Counseling to the June meeting. <br /> Commissioner Newell suggested putting something together based on the <br /> update of the workplan that was presented to City Council in October 1995. <br /> Chairperson Lloyd will work with Jack Anthony and Commissioner Walsh to <br /> develop this presentation. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Supervisor Griffith announced this would be Sally Hartman's last meeting <br /> with the Senior Affairs Commission and wanted to thank her for all her <br /> work. She invited all the Commissioners to attend a breakfast reception for <br /> Sally hosted by the Veterans Memorial Senior Advisory Council on Monday, <br /> April 29 from 9:30am-11:OOam in the Redwood Room of the Senior Center. <br /> -Commissioner Walsh announced the Commission on Aging's Long Term <br /> Care Committee will be sponsoring a "Resources for Independent Living" for <br /> help at home on May 31 at the Belmont Senior Center from 9:OOam-11:OOam. <br /> -Commissioner Mooney discussed many banks offering free checking <br /> accounts to seniors and suggested shopping around for those services. Eureka <br /> Bank is one that he has found to offer free checking to people age 62 and over. <br /> -Commissioner Capone announced a conference on "Scams" to be held <br /> Monday, June 24 from 8:OOam-3:30pm at the Airport Hilton sponsored by the <br /> Minority Elders Committee of the Commission on Aging and the San Mateo <br /> County Aging and Adult Services. <br /> -Commissioner Newell thanked Superintendent Hartman for her hard work <br /> and wished her the best on her retirement. <br /> -Supervisor Griffith thanked Commissioner Capone for her participation in <br /> the tax program at the Senior Center. <br /> -Superintendent Hartman said goodbye to the Commission. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 5:05pm to be reconvened at 3:00pm on Thursday, May 9, 1996 at the <br /> Senior Center Annex, 711 Nevada Street, Redwood City, California. <br />
