Senior Affairs Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of Thursday,September 10, 1998 <br /> Housing <br /> Add important of sharing how cost home repair program run by <br /> Neighborhood Services Center in North County; potential impact of expanded <br /> Woodside interchange at 101 on Harbor Village. <br /> Intergenerational Programs <br /> Add work with employers which may be interested in hiring seniors and the <br /> Title V workers program. Work with the schools would be ongoing and <br /> initiated by Senior Center staff. <br /> The Commissioners commented that they had taken very few issues to the <br /> City Council over the past few years. They would like to identify at least one <br /> issue to bring to Council's attention over the coming year. <br /> Former Commissioner Truscelli spoke regarding the importance of focusing <br /> on local versus state or federal issues. <br /> Commissioner Walsh commented that she would like to see at least one <br /> meeting per month at Casa de Redwood and one at Woodside Terrace. She <br /> also reported she was pleased that Ann Weiss, LCSW, from TIES would be <br /> available at the Veterans Memorial Senior Center one day per month. <br /> Commissioner Nobles would like to see the Commission look at the Fair Oaks <br /> Senior Center as a location of a future meeting. <br /> Superintendent Centeno agreed to work with the information and try to <br /> categorize the items so that committees could be developed. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Manager Linda Griffith announced that the Senior Center Directors would be <br /> making a presentation to the County Commission on Aging on the current <br /> senior population, what it looks like, and how do services need to change to <br /> respond. <br /> -Superintendent Centeno announced the upcoming Redwood City 2000 <br /> Community Conversations to be held at the Library Community Room in <br /> September. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 11 :45am to be reconvened at 3:00pm on Thursday, October 8, 1998 at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center, 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, <br /> California. <br />
