The flyer would ask that seniors either write and or
call these legislators regarding support of the resolution. Commissioner
M.Walsh asked if the Commission was willing to send a Commission
representative to each of the senior groups who meet at the Veterans
Memorial Senior Center and speak on this topic.
M/S Carpe/M.Walsh: To recommend that the Senior Affairs Commission
make presentations to seniors during the lunch program on any particular
issue in order to get seniors involved.
Commissioner Borgens suggested giving a positive presentation on the
accomplishments of the Commission before we approach seniors to do
something for the Commission.
Motion passed. (5-Yes, 2-No - Borgens, Nobles)
Superintendent Centeno will develop the flyer and have copies made for the
Commissioners. Chairperson Moran agreed to take copies to the Senior
Advisory Council and ask that each representative take the information back
to their groups. The Commissioners will also be provided packets in order to
distribute to other seniors.
M/S Borgens/Nobles: To do the flyer and make it available to the
Commissioners, and to have it be distributed to the Senior Advisory Council
by Chairperson Moran.
Motion passed unanimously.
ITEM 2 — WORKPLAN UPDATES
A revised sub-committee list will be included in the Commissioners' February
packets.
-Housing, Transportation and Employment
Commissioner Borgens reported on the progress of the sub-committee on
Senior Housing. The Commissioners will be sent of copy of the
sub-committee's January 6 minutes, the roster for the sub-committee, and
information about low income housing on the Peninsula.
