Senior Affairs Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of Thursday, April 8, 1999 <br /> ITEM 4 — WORKPLAN UPDATES <br /> -Economic Development Luncheon <br /> Commissioner L.Walsh stated the San Mateo Historical Museum could <br /> accommodate us for the tour at 10:30am on Saturday, May 1 , 8, or 15. The <br /> Commissioners decided on May 15 for the event. Chairperson Moran will <br /> arrange for the guest speaker. Commissioner Harrison will check on a <br /> restaurant for the luncheon which will follow the tour. <br /> -Outreach, Public Awareness <br /> Commissioner M.Walsh spoke to Traffic Engineer Rich Haygood about the <br /> timing of the lights on El Camino Real and Woodside Road. He advised her <br /> that CalTrans was responsible for those major streets, and that if you added <br /> time in one direction, you needed to take it away from the other direction. <br /> She was provided with the name of the CalTrans representative and she will <br /> contact him if the Commission desired. The Commissioners asked her to <br /> contact CalTrans to see what criteria they base their timing of the lights. <br /> Commissioner Nobles reported she has been unable to reach the editor of the <br /> Independent in order to have them print her article on elder abuse. She is <br /> also calling the San Mateo Times to see if they will print the article. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Chairperson Moran spoke about attending last night's meeting of the <br /> Roosevelt Neighborhood Association where a proposed half-way house on <br /> Ruby Street was discussed with the neighbors. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 2:58pm to be reconvened at 1 :00pm on Thursday, May 13, 1999 at the Fair <br /> Oaks Senior Center, 2600 Middlefield Road„ Redwood City, California. <br />
