Senior Affairs Commission Page 3 <br /> Minutes of Thursday, January 13, 2000 <br /> -Outreach, Public Awareness <br /> Commissioner M.Walsh speaking for Commissioner L.Walsh suggested <br /> sending notices to all newspapers on work the Commission has done in order <br /> to let the public know about the Commission's accomplishments. <br /> -Economic Development Luncheons <br /> 1. Follow up on possible Port Tour and Speakers <br /> Superintendent Centeno read a letter to Port Commission Chairperson Dick <br /> Dodge from Commissioner L.Walsh requesting that he speak about Port <br /> activities at an upcoming luncheon. The letter also requested that the <br /> Commission be given a "floating tour" of the Port. <br /> 2. Report back from Commissioners on the future of the luncheon program <br /> Superintendent Centeno asked the Commissioners if they had contacted City <br /> Councilmembers about their support of continuing the luncheon program. <br /> Commissioner Nobles reported the Councilman Hartnett said he was in favor <br /> of the program. Commissioner M.Walsh stated she left three messages for <br /> Councilwoman Jordan but has not received a response. Commissioner <br /> Harrison stated Mayor Ruskin was in support of the program and she will <br /> contact him again to see if he has any suggestions for future speakers. <br /> Commissioner Nobles stated she will contact Councilwoman Pierce for <br /> Commissioner Carpe. <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> -Superintendent Centeno announced a dinner dance this evening at the <br /> Veterans Memorial Senior Center at 6:00pm. She stated that since the event <br /> is not sold out, complimentary tickets are being offered to the Commission to <br /> attend. <br /> -The Commissioners were advised that Chairperson Moran arranged to have <br /> our February meeting at the Penthouse of Casa de Redwood at 1 :00pm on <br /> Thursday, February 10. <br /> -Judy Buchan and Reverend Susanne Donohoe-Bombosch of Messiah <br /> Lutheran Church spoke about wanting to build up the senior program at their <br /> church and offered their church as a meeting location of a future Commission <br /> meeting. <br /> The regular meeting of the Senior Affairs Commission was adjourned at <br /> 2:07pm to be reconvened at 1 :00pm on Thursday, February 10, 2000 at <br /> Casa de Redwood, 1280 Veterans Boulevard, Redwood City, California. <br />
