Ms. Radcliffe stated that the Task Force will be <br /> making their final report in late August and asked the Commissioners to <br /> provide their comments to her as soon as possible. Staff will forward <br /> Commissioners' comments on the draft report to Tom Passanisi at the <br /> Community Development Department. <br /> ITEM 2 — ENERGY PROPOSAL — COMMISSIONER LEO WALSH <br /> Commissioner L. Walsh stated that the current energy crisis is affecting all <br /> people in our community and that the Commission should take a stand on <br /> this matter. He requested that a letter be sent to the Mayor and Council <br /> concerning this situation and reviewed a letter that he had drafted. <br /> Commissioner Borgens agreed with the concept and felt the Commission <br /> should take a stand. Commissioner Grove did not agree and felt that this <br /> was not a good use of our resources to enact change in Redwood City. The <br /> Commissioners asked Senior Services Specialist Marlene Annuzzi if she has <br /> seen an increase in request for assistance with energy bills. Ms. Annuzzi <br /> stated that she has seen an increase of 20 seniors per month who need <br /> assistance in filling out applications for low income energy assistance <br /> programs. <br /> M/S L.Walsh/Borgens: To send a letter to the Mayor and Council <br /> about the energy crisis. <br /> Motion passed. (Yes-3, No-1 Grove) <br /> ITEM 3 - SENIOR SERVICES UPDATE - MARLENE ANNUZZI <br /> Marlene Annuzzi provided each of the Commissioners with a packet of <br /> information and reviewed the "Senior Services News Flash" report with the <br /> Commissioners. Ms. Annuzzi stated that there are currently seven vacancies <br /> on the San Mateo County Commission on Aging and that Redwood City does <br /> not currently have a representative on the County Commission. Chairperson <br /> Harrison and Commissioner L. Walsh reported on their visit to both adult day <br /> care centers. The representative from Catholic Social Services recently <br /> visited the Veterans Memorial Senior Center and the representative from <br /> Rosener House will be visiting the Center next week. <br /> ITEM 4 — HOUSING REPORT — JOHN DEMPSEY <br /> This item was tabled until next month. <br />
