Senior Affairs Commission Page 4 <br /> Minutes of Thursday, October 11,2001 <br /> assistance for Bob Clinton and Linda Griffith. Instruction is provided by <br /> Sequoia Adult Education. A beginning class in English and a beginning class <br /> in Spanish is being offered. An older worker specialist is being hired to help <br /> train seniors how to get into the One Stop Peninsula Works Centers and use <br /> their automated systems. There are 4 such centers in San Mateo County. <br /> Representatives from the Employment Development Department, the county, <br /> youth employment and senior employment are all in one place at different <br /> locations throughout the community. A part time case manager will also be <br /> hired for the Fair Oaks Senior Center. <br /> -Veterans Memorial Senior Center & Senior Services <br /> Manager Griffith referred to the several handouts and pointed out the HICAP <br /> presentation on October 18th about changing HMOs, the Transportation Open <br /> House that Sandy Cohen discussed and the Housing Panel for Seniors with <br /> Katie Howard on November 7th at the VMSC, and invited all to attend. She <br /> also reported that the letter of intent for the community partnership grant <br /> required more than we were able to provide at this time so that proposal will <br /> not proceed for now. The Accessible Recreation Program is recruiting a new <br /> therapeutic coordinator and has programs in place through the end of the <br /> year. <br /> -Intergenerational <br /> No report this month <br /> ANNOUNCEMENTS <br /> There were no announcements. <br /> Chairperson Harrison needed to leave the meeting at 2:30 p.m. In the <br /> absence of a quorum, Commissioner L. Walsh adjourned the regular meeting <br /> of the Senior Affairs Commission was at 2:35 p.m. to be reconvened at 1:00 <br /> p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at the Veterans Memorial Senior <br /> Center, 1455 Madison Avenue, Redwood City, California. <br />
