S <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> JANUARY 21 , 1935 <br /> 8 : 00 P . M. <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : Mayor , C . G. Lambert , L . C . Christensen , <br /> J. M. Eva , E . A. Fletcher , R. N. Jones , P. A. McCarthy , Geo . W. McNulty , City Clerk , B . E . <br /> Myers . Absent : None . <br /> The minutes of the meeting of January 7 , 1935 , were approved on motion of Councilman McCarthy , <br /> seconded by Councilman Jones. <br /> Upon recommendation of the City Planning Commission , the recently acquired Gillespie property <br /> on Roosevelt Avenue was named the Horace Hawes Park , on motion of Councilman Eva , seconded <br /> by Councilman Fletcher. <br /> Following the recommendation of the City Planning Commission , on motion of Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman McCarthy , there was introduced an ordinance adopting a street and <br /> highway plan , specifying the purposes and effects of the plan , and more particularly re- <br /> ferring to the widening of El Camino Real through Redwood City. <br /> The request of the Constitutional Rights Association for the creation of a Bay District Municipal <br /> Utility District was laid over for four weeks . <br /> The request of H. A. Beeger for a contribution toward the payment of taxes on the property held <br /> in the estate of F. K. Towne , was also laid over. <br /> In a letter to Geo . Hopkins , Superintendent of Parks , S . P. McClenahan , of Palo Alto , offered to <br /> trim and cut back and treat all of the cavities in the large oak tree near the front of the <br /> Horace Hawes Park for $132. 50 . On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman <br /> Christensen , the matter was referred to the City Manager to proceed with the work . <br /> Mrs . Walter Scholte was given permission , revocable at any time , to install a bakery oven on <br /> Lot 13 of Valota Park , on Valota Road , for experimental purposes with the understanding <br /> that it was in no way a commercial project , this location being within the business zone . <br /> Councilman Jones introduced an ordinance changing the name of May Street to Hudson Street . <br /> Motion seconded by Councilman McNulty and carried. <br /> The ordinance pertaining to the pasteurizing of milk introduced at the meeting of January 7 <br /> came up for adoption , but as there was considerable disagreement in connection with it , it <br /> was disregarded and instead another ordinance which seemed to contain stipulations agreeable <br /> to the milk interests in Redwood City was introduced on motion of Councilman Fletcher , <br /> seconded by Councilman Eva. <br /> Councilman Christensen proposed and moved the adoption of the following resolution: <br /> "RESOLVED that the City Manager of the City of Redwood City be and he is <br /> hereby authorized to sign that certain agreement dated the 22d day of January , <br /> 1935 , and made between the City of Redwood City and the State of California by <br /> the Department of Public Works in relation to the city° s share of the one- <br /> quarter cent gasoline tax. " <br /> Resolution was seconded by Councilman Fletcher and carried unanimously. <br /> Councilman Eva asked if it could be ascertained just what the duty of the City Officials is <br /> toward enforcing liquor regulations affecting minors . The City Attorney was requested to <br /> investigate and make report ., <br />
