" <br /> On motion of Councilman McNulty , seconded by Councilman Jones , the contract for the pipe was <br /> awarded to the United States Pipe and Foundry Company of San Francisco on the basis of their <br /> bid as recommended by the City Manager , and the Clerk was instructed to return the certified <br /> checks of the unsuccessful bidders . <br /> In another communication , the City Manager reviewed the agreement with the City of Berkeley for <br /> certain fire apparatus and explained that it now seemed necessary , in lieu of a sale of the <br /> property to Redwood City , to enter into a Lease by which the City would pay $50 a year.
