( See page 185 of Vol . 3 of City Ordinances for full text . ) <br /> Action on the ordinance establishing license fees for gas appliance installations was again laid <br /> over. <br /> Joe Wasserman, 160 Maple Street , made personal application for permit or license to operate an <br /> auto wrecking establishment at that address on Maple Street , being between Lathrop Street <br /> and the Southern Pacific tracks . In accordance with the ordinance governing such applica- <br /> tion , he filed with the City Clerk a check for $100 with the understanding that if the <br /> permit was granted that the City would keep the $100 and pay for the publication costs in <br /> connection with the hearing. In case the permit is not granted , the applicant would be <br /> given his money less the cost of publication. <br /> Mr. Abner Sholl , 5W4 Market Street , San Francisco , representing the Consolidated Development <br /> Company , made application to the City to furnish water service to the White Oaks Subdivi- <br /> sion of San Carlos , with the understanding that it would be bought at wholesale and <br /> delivered at one meter . In order that the City Manager and the Water Superintendent would <br /> have time to investigate , the matter was referred to them for a report at the next meeting, <br /> on motion of Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman Eva. <br /> Mr. Clayton, of the Clayton Nurseries , Inc . , made personal application to the Council for per- <br /> mission to build a display room at the front end of his hot house now located on property <br /> west of the cemetery , on the Woodside Road. As the situation met with the approval of the <br /> Building Inspector , permit was granted on motion of Councilman Fletcher , seconded. by <br /> Councilman McNulty. <br /> Councilman Eva , supported by Councilman Fletcher , asked if the Planning Commission could do any- <br /> thing toward beautifying the entrance to Redwood City along the Bayshore Highway , and whether <br /> or not some general plan for some beautification for the streets of Redwood City could not be <br /> had. <br /> Councilman Jones recalled that it had been decided to make some adjustments in the assessed value <br /> of acreage within Redwood City and thought something should be done about it soon.
