154 <br /> MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br /> REDWOOD CITY COUNCIL <br /> OCTOBER 7 , 1935 <br /> S : 00 P . M. <br /> Upon roll call , the following Councilmen were present : J . M. Eva, E. A. Fletcher , R. N. <br /> Jones , P . A. McCarthy , Geo . W. McNulty. City Clerk , B . E . Myers . Absent : Councilman <br /> L . C . Christensen, and Mayor C . G. Lambert came in at 9 : 20 p . m. <br /> In the absence of Mayor Lambert , the Council chose Councilman McNulty to serve as Chairman , <br /> on motion of Councilman Eva, seconded by Councilman McCarthy. <br /> The minutes of the adjourned meeting of September 30 , 1935 , were approved on motion of <br /> Councilman Jones , seconded by Councilman Fletcher. <br /> The Clerk was instructed to bring up again at the next regular meeting the itBubenti matter. <br /> John McCarthy, who has a house near the corner of Madison and Clinton Streets , asked if <br /> anything could be done to have a garage which is near the street on an adjacent lot <br /> moved back. Following discussion, Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Eva, <br /> proposed that the police notify the owner of the garage that he should proceed at <br /> once to abate this violation of the ordinance or to appear before the Council to show <br /> cause for not doing so . Carried. (Note : The Building Inspector informs the Clerk <br /> that this action cannot be maintained as the garage was placed at this point prior to <br /> the enactment of the ordinance regulating the proper set-back , and that the owner is <br /> completely within his rights in permitting the garage to stand where it is . If anything <br /> is done it would have to be between Mr. McCarthy and the owner of the garage . ) <br /> Councilman McCarthy presented a letter addressed to the City Manager in which certain details <br /> of the expenditures made by the Railroad Commission in the evaluation of the Pacific <br /> Gas & Electric Company Electric Utility were set forth , and which requested that an <br /> additional amount of $2 , 000 be set aside for further expenditures in connection with <br /> the appraisal . On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman Jones , the City <br /> Treasurer was authorized to transfer from the Unbudgeted Reserve Fund to this Evaluation <br /> Fund of the Commission an additional $2 , 000 . Carried, with Councilman Fletcher voting <br /> "No" . <br /> The City Attorney presented an ordinance , as suggested by the League of California Munici- <br /> palities , relating to the care and expenditure of moneys received from the State and <br /> creating a special gas tax street improvement fund. Upon motion of Councilman Jones , <br /> seconded by Councilman McCarthy , the ordinance was introduced. <br /> In a letter dated October 4 , the General Petroleum Corporation of California, by its <br /> Assistant Secretary , Harris F. Shaw, called attention of the Council to its purchase <br /> in 1931 of certain described property along the Bayshore Highway , being a portion of <br /> the lands of the Tacoma Mill Company, and specifically called the attention of the <br /> Council to the question of a 10-ft . easement for sewer purposes along the line known <br /> as the Pulgas Rancho line . On motion of Councilman McCarthy , seconded by Councilman <br /> Jones , the matter was referred to the City Manager , the City Attorney and the City <br /> Engineer to endeavor to procure any easements that might be necessary in this or any <br />
